Yea definitely. Guidry starting has looked great this year lol.

Could it possibly be that after 2 National Championships in 3 years, Jay spent more time promoting and giving talks than he did evaluating talent. He really missed badly on the Portal for sure.

The Moore injury hurt. On paper, and what they did the year before, Rizy and Williams are major disappointments. York was a joke, and Caraway and Simpson never worked out.

They were coached out of greatness this year in my opinion. Pulled too early, left too long, just absolute zero in-game feel by the staff.

think that’s the most disappointing thing. Jay totally misread this team and he is struggling with that reality .“

How is Jay “ struggling with that reality?”
He fully admitted his failures this season

Sober up. We have throwers not pitchers.

so dumb. think about what youre saying. you dont repeatedly pull a pitcher too soon and never see him pitch long enough,if he has it you will see it eventually.

let me guess? Connor benge is an ace that never got his shot?

He stated that "There were 12 pitchers on this roster that could start on weekends". Was anyone else at the luncheon, or heard it on "The Ticket"? If so, where was the miss? Inexperience, fielding putting them in holes, more time to develop, or just bad luck? It seems like every day is a rerun with no progression. Not bashing, just someone that follows the team and wants to hear some opinions.

There’s a big difference between doing it in practice and in scrimmages and getting it done in a competitive game, especially after some things don’t go your way. This staff has a lot of raw talent, but we don’t have much mental toughness on the mound. We all saw Evans come in and thrive in some super high leverage moments and also handle a couple of starts well last season. He 100% has the stuff to be an SEC starter. But he hasn’t made that leap and has struggled to look like the same guy.

Moore and Schmidt are legit starters. Schmidt was GREAT as a Sunday guy and possibly one of the top 3 in the SEC in that role. But he’s not ready to be a Friday guy like he’s forced to be at the moment. He’s just average as the Saturday starter this season. Hopefully he takes another step in the offseason.

Sheerin has the stuff to be a starter, but he makes mistakes and has been pretty inconsistent lately. He can’t really extend yet, either.

Cowan can be a starter, especially on Sunday, but he’s really a better fit coming out of the pen.

Fontenot has the stuff now to be a Sunday guy, but we’ve seen too much Jeckyl and Hyde from him. That Ole Miss start was ROUGH.

Paz probably has the raw talent, but he’s not ready yet. He showed that tonight.

They probably thought Garcia and Lach might be based on their performances elsewhere, but that’s a reach.

Williams seems like he was on this track last year, especially with his performance in Omaha. I think it’s understandable why he would have been included in that number before the season. It’s hard to explain how bad he has been.

Rizy was supposedly awesome in Cape Cod. That and his velo may have put him in that group. That obviously didn’t translate to this season at all.

Maybe Noot was considered in that group due to his experience, but he wasn’t great last year and has been unplayable for most of this season.

Jay almost always talks our guys up. Sometimes his positivity doesn't materialize.

At one point last year, he said Schimdt would only pitch on weekends. Obviously this was off. I don’t think Schimdt pitched at all in Omaha.

Jay said Paxton Kling would be the next Dylan.

Look at his starts and tell me if it looks that way. He has started 3 games; here are the numbers.

6.1 IP
35 BF
12 ER ( 17.05 ERA)
8 Hits
6 walks (2.67 WHIP)
1 HBP
1 WP
2 HR
7 K

Infield defense
Catching
Injuries

There’d be a 30-40% improvement if these were usual lsu standards

I know that Jay is relying heavily on metrics for pitchers. I would imagine a reassessment of his criteria soon.

Totally agree. They are hard to fight back from. He’s the last guy I would want coming in with the game on the line. Once the wind gets sucked out the sails like a vacuum there is no getting back.

Only if everybody else was too. All had high expectations. Every poll, every fan and now all of the sudden people pretend they saw this coming.
