He stated that "There were 12 pitchers on this roster that could start on weekends". Was anyone else at the luncheon, or heard it on "The Ticket"? If so, where was the miss? Inexperience, fielding putting them in holes, more time to develop, or just bad luck? It seems like every day is a rerun with no progression. Not bashing, just someone that follows the team and wants to hear some opinions.

Jay said before season that this was the best pitching staff he has ever had at LSU.

I am not making this up.

To be fair, he didn’t say they should start. They could, but they should not.

In fairness, LSU might have 2 or 3 more conference wins if Guidry started instead of coming in at the worst high leverage moments possible.

I was at that luncheon. It was the Quarterback Club’s January Baseball Bash.
Johnson was gushing about how good this team was going to be.

Lol Guidry has contributed to more losses this season than i can remember one pitcher doing in recent memory. Dude shouldn’t pitch again this season unless it’s in the midweek coming up. Would be better off if he joined the student assistant coach role.

So he could give us his standard 2.5 innings before falling apart?

Are you Gavin’s dad? Come on bro, lol. Gavin leaves a ton of pitches over the heart of the plate especially this season.

I think that’s the most disappointing thing. Jay totally misread this team and he is struggling with that reality .

Uh, there’s no more midweek games left. Last one was Tulane.

No I'm not. He's terrible. Bringing him into jams late in the game and having him give up soul crushing homeruns is hard to overcome. The damage there is harder to recover from than simply getting him out of the way early in the game and moving on.

Guidry started against Kentucky

1.1 IP, 3 H, 4 BB, 1 HBP, 6 ER

he also started against State

2.2 IP, 3 H (2 HRs), 1 BB, 3 ER

If you give any value to what coaches say at luncheons like that, it’s your own fault. They use events like that to hype up their team and give some optimism to fans. You actually believed that LSU had 12 guys that could be SEC weekend starters?
