we’re pitching Holman tomorrow so you don’t have anything to worry about.

You don’t think their fans are worried about throwing the backend of their bullpen against LSU in the regional finals and having to beat us twice? This is why you play to go 2-0. Today was a prime example of why you don’t save your ace. One thing to do it against a lowly 4 seed, another to do it against one of the best offensive output teams in the country

Why would Wofford not throw their ace if available with their season on the line?

Oh, well I don't know why we didn't pitch Ackenhausen today and just execute better.

I know. Here's what I said:

If we win tomorrow but get rolled in the next 2 vs. UNC, it will be obvious that we needed Jump and Holman for UNC.

I'm sure they are. But, I'm worried about throwing our #3 starter with them on their 4th game because we've been weak all year with our #3 starter. I'd bet our SEC ERA on game 3s is probably around 10.00.

Look at the SEC tournament in games not started by Holman and Jump. Our ERA was 9.00.

I mean, it's clearly our weakness.

I mean, we probably ended up needing Jump today. But, like I said, I'm concerned about Sunday.

Because Wofford scored the 2nd most runs per game in college baseball this year and we didn't wanna risk digging deep into our bullpen in the first game of the regional.

I realize this is hard for some of you to grasp but you can't coach your way to winning the regional. your guys have to go out there and play better than the other team, no matter what order you throw them.

i notice you didn’t mention aTm using just relief pitchers and their bats to beat the 4-seed.

Now they have their best pitchers ready for the difficult teams.

dude we were down 3-1 in the bottom of the 8th today with our #1 on the mound vs their #3.

you can't just count Wins on paper, you have to go earn them.

Ask Duke or East Carolina about it.

And if we were hosting we might have got Grambling

Jump and Holman are 1A and 1B. They are basically interchangeable depending on match ups.

We’ve never lost a game 1 when saving our ace.

We have in the CWS. But to make a point: there is more parity now. It used to be that the host could pitch midweek guys and beat the four seed. These days four seeds go to the CWS.

Lol. 1 out of the last 160 4 seeds have made the CWS. Last year was the first time a 4 seed had made it to the CWS since 2012.

And most of the people on this board, including the OP, would be circle jerking if we started our ace against them.

most of the people on this board seem to understand situational baseball. Grambling/Southern are not anywhere near the level of that Wofford team we played today.

I advocated for throwing off in game 1 against Tulane last year. Wouldn’t want us to throw Holman against LIU tomorrow either if that’s who we faced. Wofford is a very good offensive team and LSU would most likely be in the losers bracket right now if they didn’t throw Jump/Holman. You have to either be too dense or stupid to not agree CJJ did the right thing today, even now in hindsight.
