Pop....Is he just rated as a 4* #9/10 QB based solely on his size?

I’m a freaking fan. Is he just rated as a 4* #9/10 QB based solely on his size. I’m bias as hell but he kills every camp, 7/7, and QB comps. I know how the rankings work but it just pisses me off because he’s a Tiger. Elite 50 at New Orleans- MVP
Elite 11 - best QBs in the nation
“ALPHA DOG” & longest throw.
Numbers in High School are video game stupid.
I know I’m bias and rankings don’t matter but come on. This is the Rant and dammit I’m ranting!

you need to understand they are entertainers disguised as evaluators and not good at either.

There's a reason these HS evaluators on these recruiting sites work there and not employed as NCAA university/NFL scouts.

If he was at least 6’2” or 6’3” then he would be a five star and very good chance he is number one quarterback in the country and top five overall recruit. Which is stupid. It has been proven lately that even little people like Pavia among others can be very effective at college level regardless of height.

If Pops height said 6’ instead of 5’ anything then he would most likely be a 5 star + and the #1 QB in the country. It’s amazing how much height will knock a recruits rankings down regardless of how good he is. Especially at QB.

Sorry but I just need to know who POP is. I know I'm a heathen for not living on TD all day long.

If he was 6'3" he would be the #1 or #2 QB

Rant on. Kid is legit and absolutely should be a 5*. Great kid from a great family too, I’ve watched him play a lot. It’s really not gonna matter though, he will prove it on the field. Remember Jets was a 2* lmao

interesting that Kyler Murray at 5'10" was 5* and top 30 overall.

Murray led Allen to a Class 5A-I state title by completing 207 of 325 passes for 3,669 yards and 46 touchdowns while rushing 151 times for 1,274 yards and 19 scores
Houston as a Soph and Junior

Finished 12-game junior season with 4,778 total yards of offense. Threw for 3,836 yards, 42 TDs, and 9 INTs on 231-for-350 passing (.660). Ran 92 times for 942 yards and 12 TDs on 10.2 yards per carry. Led Evangel to a 9-3 record and a Louisiana Division I Select state quarterfinal appearance against eventual state champion New Orleans Edna Karr.
2024: As a sophomore, led Evangel to a 6-6 record. Threw for 4,480 yards, 38 TDs, and 6 INTs on 310-for-443 passing (.700). Ran for 690 yards and 7 TDs on 6.6 yards per carry.
Not sure why Murray was rated so much higher except that he played better competition.

I know his height is apparently a big deal with evaluators, but the massive discrepancy in opponents' talent levels should cancel that out. Or hell, make what Pop has done even more impressive. Haven is a great QB, but playing 2A is a FAR cry from the 5A level.

He will be a 5 in a few weeks

The biggest thing with the 5* status of these kids is that fifth star is saying he is one of the top 25 to 35 players nationally but also that he's almost a lock to be drafted early and play professionally but at that size, he's such an outlier at the pro level its extremely hard to get them to overlook that. I don't think anyone thinks he wont be a great college quarterback based on skills and abilities.

Allen is a huge Texas school and a football powerhouse. Ya think that might help improve someone’s ranking? (Sarcasm)

The thing the recruiting sites don't explain is the star system isn't based on how their college success will go. It's them trying to figure out who will get drafted in the 1st.
It's all a numbers game to edge out the competition. Which site can get the most 1st round 5 stars to prove their "legitimacy".
With that in mind, Pop gives them pause because he may do amazing in college and the pro teams may still not take him in the 1st just because of his height.
But then again, with his arm talent it may not matter. Dude is special, gonna be a fun few years if he keeps developing at this rate. Especially in a Kiffin offense.

That's my argument. Bryce Young was short too and a 5*. I think Pop ultimately gets the 5th star, but it's comical after the camp circuit summer that he's had if he doesn't.

He’s a subcontractor. 4 star subs cost less than 5 star subs. I’m good wit it..

QB evaluation is about the most inaccurate of any position.
All you have to do is look at the last 15 years of the elite 11.
The NFL should be full of these guys from 15 to 4 years ago,
but it’s the opposite. For every top QB, there’s 5 that you don’t
even recognize their name.
Top rated QB’s tend to be the guys with the measurables and play
at the top high schools where their teams have a significant size and
speed advantage over their opponents.

Yes. The star rating system is a predictor of NFL success. 5 stars are more likely to play in the league than 4 stars and so on and so forth. I'm sure the height is the limiting factor as it relates to predictable NFL success, but rest assured he's going to be an absolute animal in college.
