re: Pop....Is he just rated as a 4* #9/10 QB based solely on his size?

Biased. You’re biased.
As to answer your question, rankings are about projections. 5 star is future 1st round pick from an athleticism standpoint. 4 star is a future NFL draft pick. 3 star is a contributor at the D1 level.
Him being a 4 star is saying the services do not believe him to possess the most elite of elite physical tools that 1st round picks typically possess.

Not sure why Murray was rated so much higher except that he played better competition.
He was also an elite baseball CF. His mobility and overall athleticism were truly elite, which is why he was a 5 star

He could be a 1 star for all I care, what difference does it make.Stars are great and all ,we’ve had a lot of 4 and 5s ,where did it get us the last few years. Its about attitude and buying into the coaching. Also not having selfish players or Coaches helps,we’ve seen those results.POP might not be considered a 5 star but he will play like one and that’s what counts.

I’m not sure if your reply was directed exclusively at me or to the star system in general. I like getting highly rated recruits that possess the physical traits that more often result in NFL players than a team of 2 stars with the biggest hearts, but I’m also not a star gazer.
Coaches evaluating these kids need to assess physical ability, mental capabilities, and overall character just like you said. A team of unselfish, hard working, tough as nails men will beat a slightly more talented yet poorly cohesive team 9/10 times.
However if you make that more talented team seriously more talented at every position, they will win 9/10 times. Talent absolutely matters, but physical talent isn’t the only thing needed, and on that I agree with you 100%

The main reasoning I made the rant(OP) was because Star ratings don’t mean much to me, I know he’s going to be a helluva college QB.
It the perception of the masses
Other top recruits want to be in the class with other elites.
These recruits eat this sht up, especially WRs they want to play with other 5*s.
It also shows that Coach LK left OM because he can get these people now that he’s at LSU.
It’s all perception especially to these young recruits, they don’t give a rats arse about 4yrs down the line. A fifth star doesn’t make him better but it sure the hell makes a big difference in recruiting other players. I’m not melting about star gazing, I’m just saying give the man Peyton “POP” Houston his due. He’ll take care of the rest on the field. GEAUX Tigers!

If he was 6 inches taller he would be hyped like Underwood was nationally

Yes. His size and lack of camp participation are the only things I can figure. He is an absolute dog. If you go back a year or two, when we knew there were 3 studs coming out of Louisiana + Nuss, a lot of us nerds were saying that Pop was our favorite regardless of national ranking.

I didn’t either. Thanks for asking.

He's a more athletic Bryce Young and Bryce Young was a 5 star. However Young played at Mater Dei his last 2 years. When you're short as a QB, unless you play at a top tier school in the highest classifications, they don't want to give you a 5 star. Same with Kyler Murray and Allen. Tate Martell was 56th overall recruit playing at Bishop Gorman, but he was the 5th highest rated QB.
ESPN is the only recruiting service that has him inside the top 100. Damn he can't even be a top 5 QB?

Haven is falling. All the way down to #94 in the On3 rankings. Not sure when 247 releases updates and everyone should know to ignore ESPN.
Outside of having the look and measurables; I think he's struggled at the elite camps.
