Aranda’s defenses were so well-coached

It’s not that perk wouldn’t be good at the middle linebacker. I think he could probably be good at a lot of things. It’s just that you think the weight wouldn’t make a difference. Or that you think you can just throw the guy in there and he’s going to be a Devin White.

Just let the coaches do their thing man.

As long as the coaches move him to the middle, and do that, I’m right there with you.

When perk was moved to middle linebacker people on here lost their shite.

People on here have no clue how the LB position works. They just remember the Arkansas game his freshman year and think that should be duplicated every game. It's just not realistic.

House wasted Perks talent last year. Good coaches put special players where they can excel. Perk could be a Honey Badger type impact player but he was wasted last year.

Perkins doesn’t have the strength to play a Devin White role.

That footage just made me sad to see the athletes we used to have running around on defense vs now

Devin White was a physical freak. He could hold up against the run much better than Perkins. And chase down running backs from the backside as well.

If Perkins were to truly want to be inside, he’d need to add substantial weight, which would probably slow him down. I’d rather him stay his current weight and keep his speed. His speed is a game wrecker for opposing offenses.

He is as fast and has more bend. Pat Queen had 9 tackles in the first half against Bama in 2018. He wasn’t bigger, stronger or faster than Perkins. It is scheme and Aranda was a master at it.

Perkins is an elite pass rusher but not great in coverage or vs the run. Why would you want him in the middle?
He needs to do what he does best, rush the qb from the edge. Trying to force him into other positions to get him on the field every play has been part of the problem.

Yet he almost lost the Bama game by bad positions of the CB .

As others have pointed out, Perkins' lack of strength is his weakness. He is incredibly fast and mobile but you put a blocker on him and he is done. Also, his tackling is not the best. LSU missed 17 tackles in the Ole Miss game...Perkins "led the way" with 6. To be fair, a lot of players wouldn't have been able to get to the ball carrier to miss 6 tackles but still...

Or, just hear me out, he was trying to guard against an NFL quarterback, an NFL running back, and 3 NFL receivers.

I don’t care about the weight difference

You should. Perkins would be rendered useless and would be one of the weakest parts of our defense if he were to be moved to MLB.

Perkins is a freak athlete. The issue appears to be he is man without a position. Too small for jack, too big for safety and seems to be caught in no-man’s land too often. I 100% sure there is a role for Perkins and Blake Baker will find it. It’s probably going to be something along the lines of giving Perkins one job on defense: insert him on obvious passing downs and and rush the QB off of defensive stunts.

Other players in the past “without a position”… Honey Badger and Trindon Holliday.

They found a way to use Tyrann and didn’t find a way for Trindon.

Coaching is the key, and as I’m putting out here, hopefully there’s a way to find Perkins in the interior with the delayed blitzes.

lol, so to shift into serious mode for a bit, this is the biggest part of those videos.

White was a freak athlete yes, but without Arden commanding the attention of two lineman, those delayed blitzes aren’t nearly as effective.
