Dre Greenlaw is 225 pounds playing weakside LB in this divisional round game

It’s not unheard of

LSU’s dline just had no shot last year of keeping Perk clean at WLB s d allowing him to run sideline to sideline making plays.

I would love to see the new 40 improve his straightline speed and shoot these gaps with Perk on the outside. I can't wait to see what Baker will do with these LBs this year. The key will be having bigs (i.e. Shone Washington) on the DL to command double teams to open uo those gaps for the LBs to shoot.

If we're throwing out crazy ideas:
1. Perkins returning punts
2. Use him like the niners use Deebo
3. Strong safety "go kill someone"

People act like Perkins didn’t play at MLB against FSU. And as many of you remember, they only beat us because they threw jump balls against our horribly coached 5’9 corners.

Did you miss the part where they ran it down our throat and we couldn’t stop them the whole second half?

Yeah, our corners were also outmatched. But the run defense was just as bad.

ETA: I’m not saying that means he can’t play inside, to be clear.

The “too small” comments don’t wash and started out as a talking point to defend House. In college the ability comes first and the size is lagniappe. Thats why HB7 was used differently in college, that’s why we’ve seen 5-11, 220lb DEs have 15-17 sack seasons at major universities. The ability is the rarity in college and takes precedent over the ideal size.

He doesn't have to be in the middle in order to do that. I don't think the staff is going to move him back to the middle. I think hes just going to be used in a very creative way to allow him to attack the offensive backfield. Blitzing and rushing the passer from different spots.

Hate to ruin your little preconceived and unresearched narrative but Perkins’s 2022 and 2023 stats were practically identical.

If you think Perkins had the same impact on games this season he did his first season, you sir are an idiot.

I would love to see Perkins turn into a clone of Devin White, but I don't know if he understands the game well enough. Devin White was really good at processing what was happening in front of him and reacting. Perkins hasn't shown the ability to process, understand and react and he would be a complete disaster.

IMO, Perkins is such a great athlete that he has never really been taught how to play linebacker, especially MLB! Based on what I've seen since he's arrived at LSU, he's more of a "find the ball, go to the ball" type of player. The MLB is the QB of the defense and he hasn't shown he's ready for that position, but maybe finally receiving some good coaching, he can get there eventually!
