Garrett Brumfield. Had no idea who he was really before the season started and he had a great season, even winning lineman of the week once!

Russell Gage Offense and Greedy and Rashard Lawrence when healthy on defense.

Have to add Danny on there, 14tds 2ints. I think if they let him play out the Troy game we would have won that one.

Look I'm a big Danny Etling fan, love the kid's heart but I don't think he belongs on this list.

I think he played his role pretty damn well this year but I don't think he did anything above expectations.

Greedy is an exceptional talent, but didn’t expect that kind of year.

Surprised it took Key so long to get his head & body back in the game. May cost him in his next move.

Most surprised with Delpit - this youngster had big shoes to fill, started slow, & really got it together as the season progressed. .

My thoughts bounced around as I read this thread, and in the end I could not pick “one”.

Gage, DW, Lac back from injury, Greedy omg, DannyE, 40, Delpit, freshmen OL.

Two that I'm surprise haven't been mentioned:
1)Tyler Taylor

I thought he played well this year. He does a good job taking good angles and coming downhill. This kid will be a solid player for us for a few years.

2) Tory Carter

What's not to love about a long haired country baw? This kid loves to punish defenders whether it's blocking or running them over after the catch.

Greg Gilmore and Russell Gage. Newcomer award to Greedy. THATS the right call.

With D. Williams honorable mention.

I feel like Greg Gilmore and Christian LaCouture has the best years of their careers. Frank Herron was impressive at times too.

Gilmore was very impressive to me this year.
In 2016, I remember him getting owned on UF’s last drive. That’s one of the reasons they won. I was pleasantly surprised by how much better he was this year as a senior.

I expected white to be good but not as good as he was this year.

Anyone not saying Greedy though is lying.

Darrell Williams. Hoped he’d be solid, but DAMN he was wonderful and exactly what we needed.

Theres several.
Williams, Gage, Carter is a freaking beast,
Delpit, Taylor, Ingram, Charles, Brumfield but to me the biggest surprise was Devin White.

He's just an incredible football player, arguably the best player in the SEC. I knew he was going to be a good player but i had no idea he was going to be an all time SEC great. I cant wait to watch this guy play football one more year for LSU and into the NFL.

While I would say Williams was the most improved from someone who had played a significant amount, I expected him to be a solid contributor. I expected very little from Gage and nothing from Greedy and they were major contributors.

I'm just happy that there is a list this long of players who showed significant improvement over their previous play and highly ranked freshman and stepped up and played very well when needed.

Tory Carter was a pleasant surprise. I didn't expect him to make such an impact as he did in his first season.

Saadiq Charles

OL looked horrendous early. After MSU loss I didn't think we'd win an SEC game. Saadiq came around very rapidly and was solid. Almost shocking turnaround.
Delpit gets my vote, too. He showed his stuff from the spring game on. One of the most gifted freshman to play at LSU ever.

Most surprising? The Williams. Greedy and Darrell.

Greedy was incredible and we finally got another ball hawk which we haven't had since TM7.

Darrell was really going to be the senior running back who got the garbage time. He ended up pulling the load and excelling. Honestly I felt he was the better back this year. I could be wrong but even in the heavy Guice games, he would come in and bust one open. Something Guice had trouble with all year.

Disappoints of course was Key and I'll catch he11 for it but DJ Chark.

Key because he never really got back into form. Sure he got some sacks in and was playing better but not nearly up to were he was last year.

DJ Chark was supposed to be the go to guy this year. His punt returns were nonexistant outside of that Auburn touchdown which pretty much won the game for us. I'm not saying he was awful, he was solid. But was expecting so much more. Maybe if we had a special teams coach?

Overall I think we exceeded expectations, especially after the Troy loss.
