Nets extending almost down to foul poles is horrible.
Coming from seats where the view was unobstructed previously, yes it certainly sucks to watch and try tracking balls through a net. Even worse now is dozens of seats will have a huge pole which supports the net directly in front of their line of sight when attempting to view the field. I mean if you were gonna put up nets to protect these new corporate seats, just extend them all the way to the foul poles and not place a huge pole in fans field of vision.

They added nets all the way down the lines to protect kids, and others, from getting hit by foul balls.
bullshite. I guess LSU didn't care if kids got decapitated for the first hundred years or so that we have fielded a baseball team. This was done only because they are about to put a bunch of "fans" down below the field level. "Fans" who have likely not attended a baseball game and will be playing on their phones more than watching the game.

But yeah right, it was all done for fan and players safety. It's laughable honestly.

One thing to watch for is players going over the wall near the foul poll. There is a section where the foul line is about one foot away from a knee-high wall. There will either be some wall collisions or players going over if they don't slide.
That knee high wall is gonna learn a few players about not pulling up. Just hope its visiting players who get flipped over it or bash their shins against it full speed.

it's not bullshite

then why did they do it down both lines?

It's literally mandated in the minor leagues and major league baseball now. It's a safety measure whether you think it's bullshite or unnecessary. Baseball players didn't wear helmets for 100 years either. They do now. Things change. People get hurt, some have died, people in charge respond

The NCAA has already mandated that dugouts have fences in front of them and have all walls be padded where player collisions would be likely. Don't be shocked when they require similar netting to be in front of all seating areas down the lines because that has become the status quo at baseball parks around the country for fan safety

here's a whole article on it

you just described most of society. that includes people in non-premium seating too. And here's a thought, maybe they know people don't pay attention during games and are trying to protect them.

You sound like an idiot

This is becoming the norm all across baseball. It’s not just LSU, it’s the fricking rules.

If this guy were inside his hand it would be fairly close to the roof. You put him on a mound and it would either be touching or very close where it would absolutely cause short arming

That’s not bitching that’s just pointing out a fact

Players will adapt.

Fenway has been like that in the RF corner for 113 years now.
a wall no more than arse-high about half a step from the foul line.

In MLB, they've been lifting the netting in designated sections before games and letting people congregate there for autographs.

The netting isn't so dense, either, that a player couldn't just slip a pen and an autograph through it. I've seen kids slip a baseball through the bottom of the net and get it autographed.

The netting down the lines is sure going to make it different when LSU wins a SR and does a victory lap. And the new premium seats on the will keep a lot of fans out of that area when there is a victory lap when they advance to Omaha.

My fourth row seat in the field will now have the premium seating in front of it and a net.

"Even big league parks have advertising all over the place. LSU could make the playing area appear much classier, though, by having a policy that forbids multi-color outfield wal[ ads.Just paint them all green with white lettering and logos."

I posted that more than a year ago when the planned renovations were first announced. Hopefully they are doing away with those garishly painted ads all over the outfield walls.

The ads brought in money, sure, but it couldn't have been that much. The bigger cost was the cheap look that the billboards gave the stadium.

Good thing the roof is higher where they throw from.

The pictures posted in this thread make it appear smaller than it is (that's what he said). It’s far from a desirable situation and completely half-assed by LSU, but seeing it in person gives you a better perspective.

Is it too much to ask to have the best stadium in the SEC all the way around for the SECs premier baseball program?

Our stadium is arse compared to half the conference now and y’all are coping. People are right. There are little league fields nicer than this.

I agree 100%. I can’t watch a baseball game with those. I’ve stopped going to MLB games and if LSU does this I’ll stop going to those games too. It’s a horrible environment to watch games in.

No he's pointing out the things that will no longer be possible now that made the Box a unique and special place forever where kids could be kids and have access to things that made it easy for them to build memories that last a lifetime.

You realize there is still no covering for those seats. Foul balls will still make it over the net.

They are basically trying to stop screamers coming off the bat and hitting someone - like almost all of baseball is trying to eliminate.

I actually don’t mind ads. Those have been plastered on walls since the early days of baseball.
