So many injuries to his pitchers,, LSU couldn’t find the ball at the plate either. Eventually Paul Mainieri got this team playing LSU baseball when to many of us it seemed impossible. Now Paul appears stressed out in the dugout after achieving a great coaching victory. Definitely appears stressed out. Thank You Paul, try chillin a little now that you got our baws playing at such a high level. LSU players got your back!

IMO he's basically just done his job up to this point. Nothing more and nothing less. I'm a big fan, but I don't think it's time to start praising him just yet.

And that's the point people have been making. It matters how the team plays in June and to reserve judgement.

You want him to chill now that we’re 2 wins from Omaha? Didn’t you just start another thread about how hot FSU is?

I told someone leaving the game last night that if he got this team to Omaha, it would be his finest coaching job.
With that said, he gets a couple pitchers even more healthy and Dugas starts hitting, I would have expected a CWS out of them because he has just about his whole team playing that was predicted to be number 1.

You really expect people to hold off on judging until June? A solid finish to the season, a good run in the SEC Tournament, 2-0 and in the regional finals, and the very second LSU trailed by ONE RUN IN THE FIFTH INNING of a baseball game, and they came out in mass. These people are ridiculous. There is no sugar coating it. It doesn't matter that they have been proven wrong for 10 years now, they just keep coming back every time LSU trails in a game.

We all want Mainieri to coach, Fla State is playing really hot, but he needs to chill some. It looks like the stress is killing him. Get the Tigers to Omaha Paul, but don’t die on us doing it.

We win the weakest regional in the country and the pumpers have come out of hiding.

The weakest regional in the country? REALLY??? The experts were calling this one of the toughest, if not the toughest regional in the country. You know which regional they were calling one of the easiest?? Georgia's.

Ridiculous. This man can do absolute nothing right to some people. If he isn't doing anything the rant loses its mind saying that he has lost it and doesn't care anymore. If he is tense in a tough situation, in a very meaningful game, then he needs to chill out. Come on with this stupid crap. You said this team and CPM were done a month ago. They turned it around, and now Mainieri needs to chill out.

Just like LSU, the teams you face in a regional are not the same teams you saw play during the season. Many got on a hot streak to get there.

man, you might want to edit this. From my understanding this was the highest scoring regional in LSU history or at least in BBCore era. ASU, SoMiss could REALLY hit and SO Miss has been pitching very well.

Expect? No. Most are just way too passionate and emotional for that. But, baseball is a long, long season and for me it's just pointless to get all bent out of shape until the postseason. Once we get to the regionals, I'm pretty amped up and can overreact from time to time to the moment, but don't get in the regular season unless it's just a disaster and I didn't see that this year.

That was some funny shite. It's as if people couldn't see that as soon as USM lost that starter, who was pitching his arse off, that LSU was gonna win that game.

Paul is a very good coach but he has faults. Continually throwing HH out there due to “defense” is killing us offensively. His decision making regarding when to pull a pitcher has always been questionable. He can’t make up his mind on a lineup and is always tinkering well into SEC play. He has no rhyme nor reason regarding when/when not to bunt. Of course this says nothing about the rash of injuries every year to his pitching staff that decimates us- can his handling of pitching talent not be questioned?

It’s my opinion that LSU baseball should be one of the best teams in the country year in year out. What does that mean? It’s doesn't mean making regionals. It doesn’t mean hosting regionals. It means playing in omaha in June.

You get there, you made it to the elite 8. I’m not saying I’m happy enough not to care to win it or that the team shouldn’t be disappointed if they don’t. I’m saying crazy shite happens in Omaha and sometimes the best teams don’t win (LSU vs UCLA where we hit 4 pitches to within a yard of the warming track and it became apparent just throw meatballs because no one is hitting home runs)

You make it to Omaha, any coaches job should be safe. You dont? Your seat should be warm

From Baseball America....

Hardest Regionals

Baton Rouge
 — It’s not an easy draw for Louisiana State, the No. 13 overall seed. The Tigers open against Stony Brook, which famously upset LSU in the 2012 Baton Rouge Super Regional on its Cinderella run to the College World Series. The Sea Wolves don’t have that kind of talent, but they’re a tough team that’s used to playing road games and has already played in a big-time SEC venue this year, having visited Arkansas for a weekend in March. Arizona State, the No. 2 seed, led the nation in home runs in the regular season and has one of the most potent lineups the country, fronted by outfielder Hunter Bishop and first baseman Spencer Torkelson. Southern Mississippi, the No. 3 seed, got hot in the Conference USA Tournament after scuffling down the stretch and the Golden Eagles have some big time bats of their own, including outfielder Matt Wallner.
