LSU had already lost five pitchers then their two top starting pitchers were injured towards the end of the season and this when every game mattered also adding to their issues, LSU was near the bottom in batting averages. Yes, it seemed logical to assume the worse.

And the same morons who were saying don’t give up on LSU’s season were ready to fire Mainieri in the middle of the Southern Miss game.

“logical to assume the worse”

Not with the LSU baseball we have witnessed over the last decade or so. I always assume the best.

I think so many people who do not understand baseball tend to treat it like:

A) it is any other sport and
B) college baseball is the same as it was in 1995

The truth is, baseball is significantly different than other sports. The best teams in baseball historically lose a lot of games (20 - 30%). The critics of PM don't understand this. They think any loss is an indictment on the program.

Secondly, these same critics don't understand that baseball has significantly more parity now than ever before. When Skip was destroying opponents from 1984 - 2000 there were about 5 teams nationwide that had a significant investment in and commitment to baseball. Now there are 50. It is also much harder to get to Omaha now bc of the structure of the regionals and SR.

Does PM make mistakes? Sure. Everybody does. But he also deserves a lot of credit. Those that say LSU should be in Omaha every year and win the NC every other year (and yes, there are many on the board who have said just that) simply have no idea what they're talking about.

Thank You Paul, try chillin a little now that you got our baws playing at such a high level. LSU players got your back!

I think somewhere in the back of his mind Les Miles is lingering. At least how Miles was fired. Miles won 1 NC at LSU, CPM has won 1 NC at LSU, Miles lost 1 NC in the final game, CPM lost 1 NC in the final series. It's easy to see the similarities, but the big difference is CPM not winning more isn't all on him. Players he signs get drafted out of HS, never make it to campus. This season they had a lot of injuries. Miles problem is he refused to change with the times. You just can't win a NC today by being predictable. Still, I think this correlation between him and Miles is on his mind, I could be wrong. It shouldn't be, I just think he is a little concerned. He looks agitated in the dugout, uncomfortable. Maybe more to do with his dad passing than the Miles thing.

Because Paul did an awesome job coaching Hal Hughes, getting Auburn to kick that ball around, and engineering UGA to lose to an emotional FSU team.

We back our way into a SR, and the pumpers can't stroke fast enough.

Jesus. The word "miserable" is overused on this board but you definitely fit the bill.

PM=NC+runner up+5CWS appearances+4SEC titles+6SEC tournament titles+3COY.

Puts LSU probably too 5 Nationally in results for his LSU time here. That’s bout elite as it gets.

He does. And I'm fine with just enjoying the ride and waiting for the end of the season to make any judgments.

Nah he's done a great job with this team. Lots of adversity, professional and personal. These guys could have folded long ago, but stayed mentally tough.

Clueless!

I'm excited as anybody, but don't act like Paul has coached a great season. We survived, with a ton of luck.

Sure, the regular season didn't live up to what this team was capable of IMHO. But we are in an outstanding position to make it to Omaha. That's what it is all about. You sure have a strange way of expressing excitement.

I don't give a shite about going 17-13 in the SEC and dropping a handful of midweek games if we wind up in Omaha. Neither should anyone.

I dont either.....but dont sit there like a god damned idiot and act like it never happened.

The same problems that plagued the team off and on throughout the season havent magically disappeared forever.
