I really do hope Krob comes around. He is too talented of a player not to. However, if by say the Ball State series he hasn't come around, then I think you have to consider shuffling him out the lineup.
One of the first things I'd change right now is move him out of lead off. That can put pressure on a player to make something happen.

I think the poster speculated that KRob does not like Coach
I'm not sure how a player not liking their head coach, if that's true and I have no insight into if it's true or not in KR's case other than I saw the two of them standing next to each other quite a bit in the dugout this past weekend, puts pressure on the player.
I have a theory that it's Robertson's very successful, Type-A personality, sports mom who exerts subtle, or not so subtle, pressure on Kramer to excel. But that's only a theory.

You can't argue it Madtown. Those who support will continue to support regardless of the facts. Logical discussion has no place on the rant
.
Again, its not a knock on Kramer for me as much as it is supporting giving others their shot. All things being equal if you have a freshman and a junior who are equal in the field and neither can swing it, sure the nod can go to the junior if you want to reward him for his loyalty and say he has experience and so on.
However, I truly believe that we have talent on the bench that should be given a shot if Kramer is not producing. I'm ok with keeping him out there a little longer, but like madtown said the leash is short. You don't win games on potential or putting the ball in play. I'd rather see someone like Lochridge get experience and progress rather than running a junior out there that has had several chances. If Robertson turns it on and becomes a player I'll support. I don't wish for him to fail. This is strictly the observation of a baseball fan. I'll cheer for whoever is out there wearing the purple and gold.![](https://images.tigerdroppings.com/Images/Icons/Icongeauxtigers.png)

that's bull.. i don't even like kRob. never have. but, even i can give him a pass on his performance opening weekend. most desk jockeys would miss a week or two of work after what this kid went through.

Is it just me or do we send a runner home on a sharply hit groundball too often? Im talking about the one that stays in the infield. What is the hurry? If it gets through you score easily. If not, they get the guy out at first. Runner on 3rd is better than a runner on first considering all else is equal.

Valek is new and I admit I favor fast ball pitchers as opposed to these "crafty" guys, esp right handed "crafty" guys. he gave up 2 homers in one inning and that didn't surprise me at all
You realize John Valek is a lefty, right? He was great the first 2 times through the order. Probably should become a long relief guy for that reason. On the 3rd time they've got him figured out.

The problem is he has a large ego problem and think he is better than he is and that statement comes from a player

Idk if this was meant to be a joke or not, but have a downvote just for bringing it up.

No. You are not the only one to notice that. He does not like LSU. He's the typical "jaded" reveille hipster reporter. He thinks baseball is below him. Delly didn't know the game well, but damn, he was a good sport about it and fun to follow and always had decent articles/updates. I miss him. ![](https://images.tigerdroppings.com/Images/Icons/Iconwah.gif)

It's a common practice. The runner is taught to look for the down angle of the ball off the bat and break for home as soon as he sees it.
He doesn't know ahead of time that it will "stay in the infield". It is designed to put pressure on the defense. Cincy threw the ball around quite a bit so it's not a bad strategy.
Some times a ball will be a one or two hopper right at an infielder and in those cases, hindsight is 20-20.
Often the ball will get through or the infielder is forced to throw to first because he needs to get an out. Everyone claps because we showed hustle and speed.
I don't have a problem at all with running on contact.

Good explanation.
It can also be a coach's call, go on contact (weak hitter/s due up) or freeze on a line drive (give your best hitters a chance/ slow runner). Does the LSU coach call it?
Typically more cautious with no outs, keeps the pressure on the pitcher, still can score on a passed ball, sac fly.

I understand the general thought process, but sometimes it seems like we leave too many runs inbetween 3rd and home. Note that I put in my original "sharply hit." Seems to me that you would freeze on the hard hit ones. A slow roller or a two hopper I can understand trying to run. Again it is just my opinion.

Coaches have to learn how far pitchers can be pushed. They have to learn what players can do what in game action. I roll on the floor when I see nuts here acting like they can see or known something that a coach with a 1000 wins, SEC tourney titles , SEC titles, numerous CWS teams, a national title, and national coach of the year awards doesn't know or cant see.
