I agree they're very young and it's too early to tell. The errors at short concern me.

Way too early observations
Are you saying they are meaningless after just three games?

Hitting - impressed. Even if Cinny was throwing BP, more than a couple guys made hits / homeruns.
Defense - shaky. Hopefully it's bc of opening weekend. Some embarrassing / unacceptable boots.
Base running - as always
Pitching - Solid. Lange is usually lights out. Everyone seems ok. Eventually we find a closer.

No problem with his glove, but I see him moving down in the lineup if his bat doesn't wake up soon...

They had a balk called on one of their pitchers in each of the three games this weekend. Don't know if I've ever seen that before.

Whats going on w Cole Mckay? Wasnt he a guy we were thinking would be in the mix for the sun spot?

We need guys like Lockridge and deichman to step up and in the everyday line up. We will not compete for a championship with the Jordan brothers hitting in the middle of the lineup.

The amount of names that have been butchered in this thread...

That is not the only things that are off. Solid defense?

O'Neal Lochridge will be a starter. So will Cole Freeman. I expect Kramer Robertson to stay ahead of Trey Dawson because of more experience and a more consistent glove, combined with the fact that Dawson won't produce offensively any more than Robertson. Therefore, I think Dawson will wind up being the odd man out in the infield this year.
I know everyone is enamored with Romero after this weekend but I don't think he is close to Papierski offensively or defensively. Papierski is among the best on the team at plate discipline. He also hit two rockets Friday night straight at the first baseman. Even though, Romero had some good production, he really didn't look that outstanding at the plate overall. He swung at quite a few pitches out of the zone.
Fraley, Duplantis, and Beau Jordan are there to stay in the outfield.
It will be interested to see the development between Bryce Jordan, Greg Deichmann, and Bryce Adams. They all have a lot of value offensively but there are really only 2 spots for them. I think you will continue to see Bryce Jordan play the most and Deichmann sit against lefties.
Overall, I think we have a lot of quality options offensively. It's hard to really tell how good they are until they get into SEC play. Any LSU offense will always produce against the teams they play the first month.

Anybody paying attention Friday night saw at the time (i.e. not in hindsight) that Coach left Poche in for at least 3 batters too long.

So will Cole Freeman
Going out on a limb there, considering he already is starting at 3b.

That's a hell of a hot take after one weekend.

I actually thought the Jordan brothers had some pretty good at bats all weekend.
They already got hit by about 2 dozens pitches each (I exaggerate) in three games. These kids look like they can play the game well enough to be in the lineup all the time to me.

He was 3 for 4 with 2 BB and 4 RBI and his OB% was .714.

- Poche and Lange looked good, I don't understand their placement in the rotation but whatever.
- I thought Valek looked good but he reminded me of Poche as a freshman, struggles for the 1st maybe 2nd inning, cruises for a few innings, then implodes fast.
- Can't wait to see Bain and Smith when he gets healthy. I think Bain has the better shot right now at moving to Sunday semi-permanently.
- Our middle relief is STOUT.
- Still don't trust Stallings as a closer.
- Fraley is the boss, and looks like one.
- Love Freeman, kid is scrappy, would like to see him in the 2 hole behind Duplantis.
- Romero will be at DH soon if not immediately.
- We have a lot of offseason ballers it seems. Krob and the Jordans, although its weekend one, were awful aside from the HR today. 1-10 today, 2-7 Sat., and 2-16 Fri. Ya it's the first weekend and all but Cinci pitchers are bottom the barrel and should have been hit.
- Bryce, Deichmann, and Lochridge look like one hell of a power group, hopefully they come through so we can get them in the lineup more.
- I think the fielding will be fixed when the position players get consistent practice and game time at one position. I think the field positions will be solidified based on the hot bats, since the offense is the biggest question mark.
- Pap needs to get a rabbits foot or something, poor guy. He'll get it soon, awesome defense and throwdowns.
- Base running was aggressive, I think they are testing the waters with who can and can't run instinctively. We have speed but some guys don't have the jump.
