They may be able to brigade into any thread being critical of McMan and digress the convo into a Will Wade hate fest but they cannot deny that program hype and morale is shot. Apathy has set in due to the lack luster product and losing. Next year better pay dividends or we’ll need to hire a young energetic coach who gives a shite to give this Heroin addict like program a shot of narcan yet again. I didn’t even know we were playing UT last night when the last 5 years I planned an evening around a basketball game with a couple choice beers and cooking a nice meal. Cannot wait for baseball season.

I think part of that is the team not being good, but also the Will Wade mafia plays a part as well. If anyone says anything remotely positive about McMahon on here, this board torches that person and is sure to bring up Will Wade. It makes people afraid to say anything positive at all on here.

The fanbase is all kinds of fractured right now.

When I was young, and healthy, I'd take my now grown children and grand children to see CJ, Shaq, Rudy etc and it was a lot of fun. But what lost me on men's basketball was the Ben Simmons year. I haven't watched any college basketball, other than the Lady Tigers since then.

This goes both ways my friend. Anyone who criticizes Mcmahon or brings up Wade gets flamed into oblivion and told that losing close games is incredible.

The issue is that we have 2 extremes that won't give the other side an inch.

There are plenty of fans in the middle that loved Will Wade but also want McMahon to succeed. We can understand the issues with Wade and why he was let go but we also refuse to prop up bad results as a moral victory. I want a good basketball program and thus far, McMahon has not provided that.

Lol, that's not true at all.

Wade is celebrated on here.

No one thinks this, let alone says this.

You're being hyperbolic.

By some. He is hated by others. Just because you refuse to accept it doesn't make it untrue.

Again, you are ignoring the truth for convenience sake.

Posters who expect instant success and pine for a former coach aren't adults, much less LSU fans.

There is growing interest as witnessed by the 15 threads after every game. It will continue to grow as the team improves, which is clear to everyone with eyes that aren't covered with tears.

Certainly didn't help that a guy who didn't even want to be in college (publicly said that BTW) sort of played when he wanted to. Offsetting that a bit was the Hornsby kid who everyone had to root for to do well.

I think college basketball changed forever after the absolutely amazing NCAA North Carolina ruling. Remember that one. North Carolina BB players apparently were given credit for going to a fictional class...didn't even exist. BUT the NCAA in all their wisdom said that NC should not be put on probation because OTHER students were able to sign up for that imaginary class...thus the BB players were given no special treatment.

That was ludicrous! Here is the proper ruling. ALL the "students" involved, players and non-players, get expelled!

Who in here is bringing up Will Wade? Oh, right.

And why wouldn't you expect people compare the current coach to the previous? Particularly when there is such a massive disparity in success.

I mostly agree here. I think there are some differences for people about "moral victories" I had no expectations regarding LSU winning or even being in the game vs Tennessee. so was not surprised at the score but disappointed a bit when I did tune in (I was late tuning in) and the team was already double digits behind.

But they mainly kept pace from the point I tuned in and made a run then seemed to collapse and give up everything they gained plus a bit. I was pleased they didn't quit but disappointed they started turning the ball over again and taking ill-advised shots. The way I describe this game looks like most of us who want LSU to do better would approach MM and WW. I can support and criticize them in the same paragraph without irrationally loving or hating either one. And I get tired of people glowing about one and pissing on the other.

What!!!! What!!! Unless you are joking that is the dumbest post I have seen since becoming a member here. There are dozens and dozens of examples of teams coming out of nowhere to do fantastic things in a very short amount of time. Texas Tech, Auburn, Florida Atlantic, San Diego St, St Peters, etc, etc, etc

McMahon and the program are in a precarious spot. If they don't pull an upset or two over these next 5 games, then they will be going into the final stretch coming off a 1 and 9 skid. At that point, the season is over, and no one cares if they go 4-0, 3-1, or 0-4 in that last stretch of very winnable games.

We don’t want instant success. This is year 2 and we are headed to finishing SEC in the bottom half of the league. We’re asking for a competitive basketball team by year 2. The previous coach won the SEC year 2 and I’m not trying to bring in Will Wade. Just simply stating facts, this is what fans now expect because it has been done.

That’s why we have the doom and gloomers debating the Polyannas here in every other thread?

Excitement no, but a lot of people care.

You’ve had back to back poor comments.

Growing interest is having butts in seats. Attendance has been abysmal this year, particularly starting after the loss to a .500 Nichols St team.

if this was college athletics of the early 2000s, I would agree with our program heading in an upward trajectory. However, we are now competing in an era of transfer portal and NIL deals. Any program has the ability to flip a script from one year to the next. Expectation is now a win now mentality.
