re: On a scale of 1-10, how surprised are you about the mediocrity of this LSU baseball team?

While LSU lost a true ace in Skenes, a Superstar in Crews, and a leader in Morgan, they had more than enough depth to compensate for those losses. I thought the pitching staff would be deeper and better, and the hitting would take a step back, but Tommy Tanks would lead them. So, overall, I give them an 8 on my shock level.

I say somewhere between an 8 and 9. I think this team is lacking in leadership this year. We are missing Skenes and Crews in that department too.

Such easily cowed little girls... If they still suck in a month, then you can cry.

About a 7. I knew we lost a lot but I thought we'd be better than this. The schedule is brutal too.

I’m at 7-8

But still long ways to go

Maybe they’ll get it together

Not surprised. Only what 1 returning starter on offense? I wish LSU had hit on some bigger bats in the portal, but I realize you can’t get them every time.

5/10

When we passed portal season and didn't bring in any elite hitters to protect Tommy, it was concerning. The warning signs were there with Kling and Neal last year. I didn't expect them to magically figure out. Jones is doing well enough.

At least we get on base at a good clip, just struggle getting runs across consistently.

3.

I was never on board with this team being great. Lost way too much and the replacements aren't near their caliber. Besides, we were a few miracle plays from not being champs last year anyway.

Probably about a 7. I thought we missed out on a big time bat out of the portal, but I didn’t think we would be this bad

this is an odd season...i believe that obviously everyone plays their best when they play the defending NC and LSU is not matching the energy....watch the other team when they beat LSU...very animated and making a big show of it.

I am seeing a lack of spark...they need someone to be a leader and get up people's asses and that aint coach JJ's job 24/7....need some senior leadership in a hurry.

Arkansas is waiting on Thursday and their schedule hasn't been as tough and yet they aren't scoring a ton....hope they don't figure out their offensive struggles this weekend.

Still a long season

Like a 4/10.

We lost an insane amount of run value from Crews, Dugas, and Beloso.

I think we can obviously be better. Just need bigger contributions from the bottom part of our lineup. Can’t have 3 guys doing all the work. Back half of bullpen needs to tighten up. Not too worried about Hurd.

It’ll all come together at some point, the pieces are there.

2. I knew we would not be as good early in league with all the offense we lost. They improved from last week on the mound and our experienced hitters are coming on with better at bats. But we have 2-3 easy outs in the line up and that is hurting our ability to get players in when we get on. Our RSP stat is hurting because of it and subsequently our scoring is down.

Two things I ams surprised about is Hurd falling behind in the count and getting knocked around and that we don’t take a more aggressive approach when we get bull pen pitching.

About a 6.

I expected a bit of a struggle heading into the season.

Then, I misread (at least so far) the landscape after I saw Holman a couple of time. I convinced myself that actually having an advantage on Friday nights was a gamechanger for this team. I think I predicted a 20-10 record.

I still think it's early and things can turn around.

It’s the second weekend of league play - the regular season is 10 weeks - or so I guess

(3) I was not at all impressed with the pitching nor the batting during the fall practice.
