re: On a scale of 1-10, how surprised are you about the mediocrity of this LSU baseball team?

They lost the 1st and 2nd picks in the 2023 MLB draft, plus other contributors to that squad.

There's a lot of parity in men's college baseball.

4.

Repeating is extremely hard and this is a very young team. We make bone headed decisions which is an experience issue, and not a talent one. CJJ will have them ready by the end of the year to at least compete.

I said it pre season and I’ll say it again. No pop in the sticks ar hot streak hitters or even consistency at the plate. Pitching is good enough to win 85-90 % of the games.

Still think they are figuring roles out. When we get to mid to late April I’ll start worrying if we are sitting below 500.

White, Travinski, Jones have extreme "pop." Pearson, Bingham and Neal have plenty of "pop."

Milam and Neal were on hot streaks. Brasswell is on one now.

About a 7. There is no reason we should be this bad. We are bad at every single facet of the game

Have to agree with the 7. Not sure we are 'bad' in every facet of the game, but we are certainly NOT as good as I thought we would be. Expected our hitting to be down from last year. Too many 1st time guys seeing SEC pitching. They should improve with more ABs.

The pitching, especially BP, has really surprised me. Holman & Jump are a very good 1-2. Hurd has been off, but we know he can be better. Ack, Herring & Guidry have been pretty reliable, but after them it has been wildly inconsistent. Some just inconsistent, but many seem incapable of stringing outs together in the SEC. Margin for error is small with pitch location. Encouraged by C. Johnson's 16P 3 up/3 down with a K effort last night. Also think Noot might help us in April. Plenty of arms, just gotta figure out who can help us win games.
Lot of BB left to play - GT!
