re: On a scale of 1-10, how surprised are you about the mediocrity of this LSU baseball team?

4 Not really shocked. The national champions last year had mediocre stretches. Lose all that talent and a realistic person can understand what's happening now.

I would have never guessed that our .260 avg catcher had to play right field because he was one of our best hitters.

7 - but it's early in the season and hopefully we'll get it turned around.

This weekend, we only really looked terrible today and Hurd is not on early this season.
Well, we were winning 1-0 in the 4th inning with Hurd. UF hadn't scored a point - I'm going to keep doing this lol.

The good thing is the schedule seems more front-loaded this year as opposed to last but that perception may change as other teams' strengths/weaknesses become more apparent.
Agreed. Learning more about our resiliency as a team is better to learn earlier IMO. Figure it out now, even though it may not be pretty.

Seven. Meaning I’m pretty
suprised.
I knew this year’s team wasn’t going to be world-beaters, but I thought they’d at least be competitive to finish in the top 2 or 3 spots in the SEC.
Now I’m thinking they’ll end the season in 7th or 8th place.

1.

If anything I was stunned how well LSU played before SEC play. It’s been 2 out of 15 series and I still believe we will finish with 17+ wins.

If this is the case, I don’t believe it is Jay. I don’t believe his belly can be full, at least not at this point in his career. He screams workaholic.

About a 7. There is no reason we should be this bad. We are bad at every single facet of the game

About 6.

The difference between 19 or 20 SEC wins and 12 or 13 SEC wins is one or two dominant pitchers and 1 or 2 consistent clutch hitters. So far LSU has only 1 on the pitching side.

I thought we’d win 2 against Moo St, if not for coaches today coaching like they’re professionals, we would’ve won yday against Florida. I just watch the games and hope for wins, I damn sure don’t know as much about baseball as 90% of the Reigning Dixie Youth Championship Coaches on the rant. I do know we lost 2 of the greatest players in NCAA history much less LSU history. I know that JJ lives, breathes, and shtz baseball.
I believe the hype of talent was overblown within our team. I believe CJJ got a little too confident winning so fast but I believe he is the best in the business and will figure it out. I believe the SEC is the BEST and It(baseball) definitely means more. I think LSU is mid to upper tier in the SEC which is still Top 15 in college. I think we’re about a 7 and there’s still about 40something games left. But I know if we win the Tenn series & Vandy series we all feel better. I’m just a LSU baseball fan!!

Honestly, I'm not surprised. We played cupcakes in non conference, and there was an obvious disfunction of hitting. If the hitters would hold up their end, the pitching would get their job done.

About a 4. I thought we’d be better but when you only have one returning full time starter your gonna take some lumps.

It's still early. We're just now facing SEC competition, so I like to reserve my opinion for closer to the conference mid-season. I

Why hedge it though?
Presently we suck. And its shocking. Nothing wrong with stating s fact.

However I also fully expect that they will evolve and remain competitive for the post season.

10- I bought into the hype on the pitching, I believed we would not be as strong at the plate as last year, but I had no idea we would be this bad at the plate. I just feel we were mislead when it comes to quality pitching. It’s almost as if Alan Dunn is still the pitching coach.

I trust Coach’s development process. This club will be playing great ball late and will most likely get to Omaha.
