Still can’t get over O not personally interviewing Pellini. Was coach O too busy?

Dude was newly single after winning a natty. I wouldn’t interview anyone either

I’m more shocked that he admitted it to the media

Coach Johnson interviewed no less than 10 people for recruiting coach role, all face to face.
Just arriving, dealing with existing/returning roster, MLB draft, and transfer portal as well as all things "welcome to LSU" podiums, interviews, and handshaking...found the time for a critical contributor to baseball success.
Meanwhile, football, the breadwinner for most of LSU athletics and that pesky little defensive coordinator role...no due diligence. F'n what?
Love Coach O, but lost confidence in LSU leadership and decision making. That was arrogant at best and incompetence in reality.

He needs to quit talking about it.
So, he says he would have still hired Bo even with an interview. But, now he absolutely interviews everyone.
Please stop Ed... Just stop.

The O psychos wanting people to let this go might be worse than fricking not interviewing bo

I hope They make O pay his buyout!

A certain poster will be along shortly to tell us that Bo was all Scot Woodwards fault. That Woodward hired Bo and forced him on Coach O.

Very disappointed in coach O for hiring Pelini and even more disappointed that he blamed the lack of thorough vetting or interview on Covid.
Now that we know the truth though, we can only hope he’s learned from it. Problem is though, he seems to always be learning his lessons the hard way

The same guy who said the leaks about O not interviewing Pelini were false? Then O came out and admitted it himself for some unknown reason? Yeah he’ll be here soon.

However, the biggest reason for the debacle in 2020 was the hiring of Bo Pelini, not by Ed O, but by Scott Woodward instead to be the DC and despite the fact that Bo Pelini hadn't coached a defense since 2007 and was completely ill prepared to stop modern spread offenses. Yet, you blame Ed O for that blunder as well.

Well if Ed O didn't interview him, how did he get hired? Go ahead, give a logical explanation.
I mean, usually the head coach interviews the candidates and then tells the AD that's the one I want boss.
But that didn't happen in this case. However, someone with authority interviewed Bo Pelini, screened him, negotiated a compensation package with his agent, and then made the final decision to make the hire. Who was it?
It wasn't Ed O because Ed O already confessed he didn't even interview him but also promised at the same time that will never happen again.
Nonetheless, if Ed O didn't interview him, then who did? Prove that Ed O hired Pelini.

Things like this are what separates Coach O from Saban, Meyer, Jimmy Johnson, etc...
You can't manufacture the inner desire to dominate, and Orgeron doesn't have it like those guys. Most people don't. Kobe would never "settle" like Ben Simmons has to just be above average. It killed him when he came up short, and worked his arse off to correct it. Only the rare super achievers (who possess the talent) do this.

You are exactly right! And people like Jimbo Fisher, Ed Orgeron, Paul Mainieri and Jon Gruden have the fire to climb to the top, but they don't have the fire to stay there. That's why you have to think twice before hiring a Jimbo Fisher, or Jon Gruden, who has been to the mountain top.

He needs to quit talking about it. He makes himself sound incompetent everytime he says it. Not interviewing a defensive coordinator to be on your staff is an embarrassment

Our fans get hung up on the dumbest shite. Was discussed ad nauseam a few months ago. He has since interviewed everyone face to face to fill out his staff and the season is 50 days away. Let it go. It will have nothing to do with how we do this year. I have my theory on why he didn’t interview BO but you know what who cares at this point

He was set on Pelini. It is what it is. We've moved on
Posted on 7/20/21 at 8:01 am to tigerdude12
God fricking let it go.
Everyone thought it was a home run hire.
It wasn’t
He’s gone
Move on with your life

Or its in the past and its over with, continuing to talk about something that you can not change is pointless, he made a mistake, owned up to it, made a change and now we see if it works like his others changes from coaching mistakes have worked out...how hard is that to fricking grasp?
