Meaning what?

Trey didn't get a fair chance here and everyone knows it. He transferred, became one of the best receivers in America, made an NFL roster, and was starting on special teams as a return guy prior to an injury.

I think it's safe to say our coaches failed him. It is what it is.

Giles has been atrocious and deserves to be ridiculed bc he's had much more of an opportunity than Trey ever got.

Trey was awesome in High School. In college and the NFL He is soft and drops balls or gets folded up like an accordion.

Giles needs to be benched and we REALLY need him off the returning punts gig. We need someone who will actually return a punt........... Kid plays soft so I see the Trey comparison.

People keep throwing up his numbers at tech but are failing to mention he was benched that year thus prompting him to transfer.

The thing is he was benched at Tech for being a malcontent. I'm hoping that doesn't start to happen here as well.

Great observation - Giles is beyond overrated and how he got #7 shows poor judgment

Quinn also had those drops his true freshman year which is understandable.

Culotta said last night that Giles asked for it, they probably should have said no.

went and checked his highlights and he was always thrown to in space in what looked to be like zone coverage. I'd love to see him in the screen game where he does not have to fight someone off the line

Noticed that as well. I’m guessing coaching fell in love with the numbers and didn’t pay enough attention to how he got them, or else they would’ve designed some packages for him.

Honestly, the hatred for Quinn was ridiculous based on a couple of play, really 1 IIRC
i hear you, but that's the way it is in sports. Players are often remembered for one play, good or bad, especially when that play is in an important situation in a big game.

That's just the nature of competitive sports at a very high level school. Players know the pressure and expectations when they sign their scholarship papers. There are plenty of other less pressurized options to play college ball.

The drops, yes. The seperation, no. Giles is almost never open.

Yeah this thread is funny. People discrediting Giles numbers at Tech because he played at TT, but then citing Quinn and how he became amazing because he put up great numbers at SMU. Both aren’t SEC caliber receivers in my opinion.

the real question here is why can't we have an offense that gets receivers " in space" to catch balls and put up stats?

Man v. zone principles. SEC has the caliber CBs to play press man cover and force receivers to get separation while there is a heavy pass rush. Big XII schools don’t have the pass rush or quality/depth of CBs so they play more zone. Easier to find space when he QB has time and your not facing a quality CB being physical right at the start of the route.

I'm basing my opinion of Giles on several drops, not one or two and zero production as punt returner. He's started every game and done nothing. Quinn got a lot of shite for two drops. I didn't cite numbers either, I merely said he proved he was a good receiver and the redskins felt the same way. If Giles wasn't getting a chance I'd say so but he's gotten every opportunity.

Time to give someone else some snaps

So we have 18 and 7 and what other numbers that are supposed to be special? I’m losing track.

To be honest, a lot of our guys are struggling to get separation. Another guy and I commented on another thread about the need for bubble screens, rub routes, combo routes, etc. that would help these guys get uncontested catches.

Would be cool to see Giles own it & go in & offer his 7 to Brossette
