That’s a bullshite spin and you know it. The lawsuit was filed against the NCAA, just like dozens of other players have filed similar lawsuits over eligibility in the hometown state court of the school they are going to play for. Texas, Vanderbilt, Tennessee, Ole Miss, Alabama, Indiana just off the top of my head.
The SEC went and made their rule after the lawsuit was filed and then got dragged into the mix. If they had stayed silent, like they have the previous times the NCAA has been ruled against, none of this happens.
Agreed we shouldn’t voluntarily leave the SEC. At a minimum we need to get kicked out so we can sue for untold damages on our way out to keep us financially afloat.

I respectively disagree. I think the Big Ten would definitely take LSU! Why would they turn down a brand like LSU? Adding LSU would only make the Big Ten stronger and deeper.

I do not buy that the B1G would not accept LSU.
To join the B1G you need to be an Association of American Universities (AAU) member. All their members are. We do not have that higher academic achievement.

Didn't the SEC "clarify" the rule AFTER the court ruling?
Also, what about Mississippi and their ruling?
Once again, this is selective enforcement by the SEC.
We are talking about the Big10

Nebraska isn’t and is generally ranked similarly to LSU.
Also Indiana just got a TRO for 5 for 5 players in local court. Pretty sure Penn State has done something similar before as well.

It doesn't make sense. That's the point.
Admittedly don’t know the B1Gs official stance on this. But I also think revenue potential may outweigh this issue. “We didn’t come to play school” kinda thing.

You think the Big10 wants a school that will go to a hometown state court to avoid rules of the Big10 they don't like? The Big10 doesn't want to deal with that.
I mean the SEC rules were implemented after the injunction, no? And then we went on to…follow those rules by not rostering those players. But also, this is why I gave the caveat of “under the right circumstances”. We’d have to make some promises, I’d expect.

quote:This is not true. It is preferred but not an actual conference requirement. Nebraska lost AAU status after joining the B1G and has remained a member. Also, LSU leadership has stated the goal is AAU membership for the university. As I said in another thread, I would wager that the B1G would strongly consider LSU and with all this chaos, there probably has already been some back channel communication if the SEC goes nuclear.

More reasons why I think the Big Ten would eventually want LSU an from a purely business/football standpoint, LSU is an extremely attractive addition:
1.) Massive national brand and one of the strongest football programs in the country.
2.) Huge fan base and TV appeal.
3.) Gives the Big Ten a legitimate footprint in Louisiana and the Deep South.
4.) The LSU-Ohio State, LSU-Michigan, LSU-Penn State, LSU-USC, LSU-Oregon etc. would be enormous television games.
5.) It would weaken the SEC while strengthening the Big Ten - something the Big Ten has every incentive to consider.
6.) LSU has decades of history, championships and national recognition.
7. ) The AAU requirement is real, but as mentioned, Nebraska currently does not have AAU membership. Given the landscape of college sports today, though, that may not matter as much as it once did.

the B1G just took 4 schools over 1,500 miles away from. the B1G would definitely look at adding LSU as well as other potential SEC and ACC members.
The B1G could then tell the SEC and other conferences to F off and create their own super league.

The grass ain't always greener on the other side of the fence. Do y'all honestly believe we'd get fair and just treatment in the Big 10? Established members like Ohio State and Michigan would stick it to us regularly with no resistance at all. I'd rather stick with the enemies I'm familiar with in the SEC. It's all a moot point anyway, because LSU isn't going anywhere.

LSU could come out tomorrow and say we're putting together a 10 year plan to become an AAU member and the B1G would eat that shite up.

I completely agree. When there was 10 teams in the conference, it was working great. When there were 2 divisions, it was working. But now I don’t understand where the advantages are. For years we could stand against the influence of Bama in Birmingham because there were counterweights in Georgia and us. Occasionally Florida. Occasionally Tennessee. It worked. But now we have entered a new world. There is too much money, too many mouths, and it doesn’t make sense.
LSU could make it as an independent. We could keep all our money and we have enough cache to attract schools to play us in non-conference. I’m certain of it.
The actions of the SEC and the voices from our partner members have spoken. We do not want to stay here and help build our own gallows.

I disagree. I know Ohio State was excited when we added Oregon, Washington, and USC. The Big Ten has revenue sharing as well, so adding another major brand like LSU would only strengthen the conference.
