Good question.
I would argue that they can sign with a G6 team if there is one willing to sign them to include paying them.
IMO, it would strengthen the players argument if they signed with a college team for whatever money they could get (in order to support themselves) and also continue to sue the SEC for whatever the difference is between what the players are making at the G6 level versus what LSU had agreed to pay them.

I submitted a suggestion as to why the two players are being singled out earlier in the thread.
As for keeping them out of the league this year, I don't agree with that.
The players said that had they known they had another year of college, then they would have stayed in college. They sued for it. They won - so far. The NFL is basically agreeing with them.
For the 2026 season, the two players in question are college players and cannot be signed by NFL clubs.
At least that is how I understand it.
As for not being signed/rostered by LSU, that's the SEC's fault.

There are deadlines involved. They were enrolled at LSU in time to be added to the roster pending the outcome of the court case. Once LSU made it official that they would not be added, it was too late for them to just go somewhere else.
It's possible they may be able to find another school with part-of-term enrollment and roster space that will take them, but that's not a guarantee.
Seems to me that the NFL has done them a favor by specifically stating that they are not eligible to return to the NFL this season.

Two months later, we’ve given everyone directly prior to you an extra year of eligibility in the past and are now giving everyone after you an extra year of eligibility. Good luck, sue us (NCAA) and if we lose, we’ll get the conferences involved to make up new rules on the fly. This will sound harsh: They didn't make an NFL team. It is likely time for them to do what almost all other college football players do after college - go get a job and begin the next phase of their lives.

I understand that. Seems like there wasn’t great communication between them and LSU. They won their court case and LSU still decided not to roster them.

Effectively putting them in limbo due to no fault of their own and to cover up mistakes of others..
They can't go to college because they were in the NFL and then they can't go to the NFL because they were in college coming from the NFL

Wut? They are seeking the legal RIGHT to do something. The NFL doesn't get to remove another right just because they don't like them. There's no legitimate basis for excluding them from the NFL.
They say "participated with a college team". What does that even mean? You could say NFL players going back and working out at their colleges could be deemed "participating" with them.

They cannot go through draft again. When their ban expires they are free agents and can go anywhere. Looks like that ban is for this season only.
