New Englanders Visiting just to get a real SEC football game day experience - WHAT TO DO?!

I am taking a trip my 24yo old son to Baton Rogue to experience Death Valley. Other than my having owned an LSU hat back in the 90’s, we have no connection to LSU. We want to take in the full game day experience. I’d love some advice. Any & all advice is welcome (I beg just please don’t f*** with us). Thank you!
- seats? mid field lower bowl, mid to upper rows being the obvious choice
BUT - also thinking, where are student sections? What sections get us closer to that mayhem, other good sections, etc.
- do I try to find some type of pre game + ticket package? Or just go with the flow & take in a more authentic experience?
- Best ways to get to the stadium
- where to park
- pregame (not really big partiers)
- seeing the band march into the stadium
- what can we expect?
- whatever else…
We are New Englanders & fans of a team that doesn’t have that on campus game day experience. But we had the great opportunity to see a game at Neyland a few years back. It was such a fantastic experience we vowed to see SEC football again. Hopefully, we will be met with open arms.
We will be sure to get our LSU swag, but hopefully none of you will be offended if I represent my college as well.

Go with the flow and take in the authentic experience. Tell people that you’re visiting and most tailgates will welcome you with open arms. They’ll feed you great food and drinks. Enjoy.

If you have LSU gear on no one with mess with you. If people know you are a New Englander experiencing a LSU game for the first time, you will be treated well. If you want the true experience be sure to attend an SEC matchup.
This year's SEC home games are TA&M, MSU, Bama and Texas. The MSU game might be the easiest to get tickets to. The other three will likely be relatively expensive. I would secure tickets first before planning a trip here

Miss St is an 11 a.m. game so you won’t get the true atmosphere at all.
Go for Texas, Bama, Clemson or Texas A&M to get the full experience, even though tickets will be pricier.

I would be surprised if more than a few of the degenerates on this very board wouldnt be happy to help you tailgate.

TY - MSU is actually the one we booked. Trying to get into a marquee matchup was difficult.

Has state been announced as 11 am game? We play auburn the next week. That one is an 11am start. It seems odd we would have those back to back.

Part of me is saying “a first game only happens once in a lifetime so go full Monty.”

Like others have said, you'll be fine. Despite our reputation, LSU fans are hospitable to outsiders who are just there for the experience.
May I ask who you are fans of? Honestly, I've seen fans wearing gear of random schools get treated better than most people walking around tailgates.
IIRC I seem to remember a group of Minnesota fans, or some other B1G team, showing up and having a blast.

All the fans gathered around to watch would march right into the stadium afterward. Now the band marches down a few hours earlier and detours into the PMAC to play for a little while. There’s a possibility I will be out of the country for the Texas game. I have two tickets in the lower bowl (about 30 rows up) of the south end zone I haven’t sat in for years I’d gladly sell you for what I paid if I am. I should know for certain within the next month and a half or so.

Unfortunately you won’t get the full experience at the msu game. Traveling as far as you are for a once in a lifetime experience. I would do my best to reschedule. As the other poster said. You need a night game against Clemson, a&m, Texas or bama

I would advise no lower than row 15, 30-50 is preferable in the lower bowl. For my money, one of the better viewing experiences is the tiger terrace between the 30-yard lines (east 534-537, west 515-517).

North End Zone: Purple is the student section. The view is not great, but both end zones are a blast.
