NCSTate in current landscape is a mid tier program in the ACC which is a mid level conference as far as revenue. LSU is in a premier conference with incredible resources for all sports and a president and BOS President r who are closely affiliated with Will Wade. This isn’t high level detective stuff. Despite LSU love for baseball it isn’t a revenue sport and LSU needs mens basketball to generate more revenue to help keep the whole Athletic Dept afloat

Here is where im at, not that im important or anything.....

The chance of him coming back here was never zero, but it was pretty close. I've been told the Wade loved it here in BR. I don't have sources, but it was pretty well known while he was here, and with the last administration leaving, the possibility of him coming back increased substantially, but there were hurdles. Those appear to be falling rather quickly. Does it happen? I have no clue at this point, but if McMahon gets fired, one would have to assume that Wade is a strong possibility to come back.

If they are going to fire McMahon this is the only way it makes sense with the buyout and monies involved.

There is no world where keeping McMahon "makes sense". NONE. Even if LSU doesn't get Wade and hires a mid-major HC with a slightly lower NIL budget (that somehow declines in value based upon how well LSU performs throughout the season) that would be a better option for this program.

Outside of a handful of nerds and weirdos (seriously, go to a game now. It looks like comic-con), there isn't much of a fanbase left and news that McMahon is still the coach isn't going to change that. In fact, it would run more of the few remaining fans off. No donors are going to want to not fund a buyout while simultaneously increasing their NIL donations. Which isn't exacly promising for a HC who has proven he (evidently) needs massive spending and no adversity just to maybe get to the middle of the league.

Were you around when Brady, Jonhson and Jones were here? There is a recognizable stink when the program has died and it's time to move on. You smelled it with Brady collapsing immediately after the Final Four run with two shitty seasons. It was still prevalent when Johnson "rebounded" to go 7-9 in SEC play after two seasons of a, combined, 5 SEC wins. You smelled it when Jones doo-dooed all over himself in the Simmons year and anyone with a working olfactory system knew the following year would be bad.

That same smell has been permeating from N. Stadium Dr. for 4 years and no amount of fancy candles or pine tree air fresheners is going to eliminate it. Eventually you just have to bury the corpse and in hope pretty flowers will grow on top of it.

Kiffin talks to Saban all the time. Doesn't mean he's headed to Bama
Strange analogy considering Saban isn't the president of Alabama.

I'm hearing it is a fluid situation. He may come back, He may not and I am 100% sure of that. He does seem like a coach that has that FU mentality about him to where he would love coming back and having success just to stick it to the ones that got rid of him before.

think the people relaying (media, some people you might hear) he might stay another year are just trying to drum up more $ support, it's not a matter if he's staying or going, he's gone.

Yep, I think they are using Mascona like they did to get CMM one more year...it's just different folks using him this time.

If Verge pull this off, fans will still doubt him. The cry would be for him to replace Beth.

It’s going to happen. The same folks that said Kiffin-LSU 2 weeks before it happened are also saying this will happen.

People still doubt Verge lol

only way it doesnt happen is because Wade says he wants to stay at NC State.

Lee Mallet wants this, will pay the buyout for MM himself and is personal friends with wade as is Rouse. Only way it doesnt happen is Wade feels like NC State is the better job that gives him better chance to win an NC

Would be the three of the most intense recruiters in their sport, all at LSU at the same time.

Four: Kiffin, Wade, Mulkey, Johnson. You could even include Clark.

I have heard from 2 people with basketball inside knowledge that it’s a done deal. You can see this starting to break little by little with leaks

There’s going to be a lot of disinformation in the next few weeks about McMahon being retained IMO which helps Will. If we are really going to land Will Wade, he still wants to make the NCAA tournament and win a game or 2. And the last thing he’s going to want is a loosely kept secret that he’s leaving NC State. So I’d bet we don’t even fire McMahon until NC State loses if we are that organized and this is truly done.

NC State's marketing team should hire LSU fans...because LSU fans seem to have a great ability to make the NC State program seem WAY better than what

Maybe you have been dropped on your head so I’ll let it slide. First off nobody saying NC State is a power house. I’m saying comparing Ole Miss Football to LSU football is not the same comparison because at least NC State has been relevant the last 25 years. Since 2000 LSU has like 9 or so tourney appearances. NC State has 12 and made a final 4 in 2024. So comparing Ole Miss Football football to a relevant team is retarded Ole Miss is arse and will remain arse. Also I have stated I think LSU is above all other jobs but if I take my purple glasses off and try to be fair, NC State is not that bad. In this new era of NIL I think we are much better spot though cause we will spend money.
