He absolutely was part of the problem. He missed on numerous throws that could have resulted in First downs, TD and big gains.

Even when the OL held up, he ran backwards out of the pocket and threw off his back door.

He was scared all night and it cost us the game as much as anything

You're not going to connect on every pass. It really is that simple, there was zero run game and limited OL protection. When he started to get into trouble was when he wasn't doing the 1..2...throw/run. It was his third start, I don't see much issue with it.

Put that UCLA QB on LSU's team and it would have been a bloodbath.

It was a solid C+/B- performance, for a third start above that.

LSU lost because:

- Horrid LB play.
- Bad Safety play.
- Using LBs on the DL, its basically 2 DL set against a power team.
- Limited to no run game on offense.
- Limited OL protection in passing

how did Brennan fair against Miss St at home last year?

Brennan actually did quite well. Almost matched Miss St vs our Swiss cheese, ole’ defense.

Oh I agree. But Max did miss wide open plays because of bad accuracy. He also started throwing off his back foot instead of stoping into it because (I assume) he was getting hit almost every play.

Sure, he had a few bad reads, and a few inaccurate passes... he also got into trouble when he didn't do ....1...2...throw or run.

As far as his overall performance solid C+/B-, considering his third start and absolutely no real help in the run game.... really not a bad performance at all.

Unless Max can play LB or S, its going to be a long year... his performance wasn't great, but it was very much solid.

He was not a B- performance.

Despite the bad OL play he played poorly.

Missed Palmer when he was wide open.

Those mile high throws to Besch and Jenkins. The late floater to Boutte thatallowes the safety time to get to Boutte to break up the play.

Throwing behind Boutte and Palmer in the end zone.

Those throws cost us at LEAST 14 points straight up and cost ust multiple drives, and the interception was just 100% a bad throw. That spotted them another 7.

Johnson was not decent. He did not play better than their QB.

One led his team to a win.
One tried to throw a behind the back pass.

Max played very well considering the OLine, 40 sec play call relay with no time to call for adjustments, and 6-7 man blitz every play. We had zero ability to run which dumped even more pressure onto him. Our WRs dropped some decent passes too.

But he should have been benched after that no look throw behind the back….that’s just not acceptable.

You, my friend need to watch the game again ! Max danced all night and never set his feet, threw off his back foot most of the time. He was very inaccurate . Myles Brennan is much better even with one arm, than Max.

Brennan would’ve choked even harder in the pocket.

Given the circumstances, he was ok overall.

I saw a guy:

*with a better arm than I remembered.

*under a ton of duress all game, who lost trust in his line

*who absolutely made a horrible decision with the behind the back pass, even though he got away with it- and we have a placekicker that would make a 50 yd pass, so it wasn't necessary

*was off-target to a number of guys due to pressure, but quite a few of those could still have been caught.

We got 27 points, but it felt like they had to work their asses off to do that. Absolutely should have had 34-37, should have been a Palmer TD and we should have had the 50 yd FG.
And our defense shite the bed; 34 pts on UCLA should be a comfortable victory. 37 still would have lost.

Max played decent, anyone that says otherwise... doesn't know football. I would say C+/B- easy. (Looked good for third start)

No he really didn’t, he made some good throws here and there but I seen a qb with terrible footwork and pocket presence who was wildly inaccurate, which is exactly how he looked last season and in the spring game. They need to play to his strengths, which unfortunately is running. He needs to have about 10 rushes a game

Johnson has an incredibly weak arm, especially when his technique breaks down and he throws off his back foot. He absolutely cannot fit the ball into tight windows, so he can't be late on any of his throws. I lost count of how many times he seemed late on releasing the ball, several of which led to drops.

Brennan wouldn’t have missed as many throws as Max but likely would’ve taken more sacks because of his lack of mobility because our OLine is a dumpster fire.

You really don't remember what bad QB performances are.... go back to pre-2019 tape.

If you put UCLA's QB with LSU offense, he would have been murdered.

He threw to 2 guys that were open by 10-20 yards a couple of times, the rest of the time... he didn't do anything.

C'mon stop with that.

UCLA could run the ball, every once in while... there goes the UCLA TE with 20+ yards of separation.

For his third start, on the road... with absolutely no help... that was an easy C+/B- performance.
