My take; it's game 6 with a new head coach, with a mostly new staff with many many new players all trying to get things right in a very very very competitive conference. Not for one minute did I expect us to not lose some games and certainly didn't think we are ready to win the SEC. Hard to believe but based on past history here at TD many here are living in an alternate universe thinking just the opposite of my thoughts. Still we are a couple of mistakes by a few players to being 6-0. Lane will get this right and lots of crow will be served down the road.

If we go for it and don't make it we are forced to play aggressively on defense, enhancing our chances to win. i don't think kiffin's personality is soft, so it's a mistake for him to play safe. there are times to play it smart, but that's not always the same as playing it safe.

And by willingly giving Kentucky the ball down 3, LSU also willingly opened the door to a potential loss in regulation. Let's not forget that after punting, Kentucky ultimately had two passes at the end of regulation from inside LSU's 20 yard line. One was defended well by Cooley in the endzone. And on 3rd down, Kentucky very nearly gained a new first and 10 from LSU's 13 yard line with 12 seconds left and the clock stopped, but Kentucky's TE ran a route 1 yard shy of the first down marker when he fell out of bounds. This could have easily provided UK with 2 more shots to the end zone before kicking the FG for OT.

Something I don't see mentioned, is that if we went for it and did not convert, UK would have had it at the 43 with 1:40 left. We had two timeouts. They were not going to sit around and milk clock to rely on a kicker that just shanked two chip shots. Odds are they score a TD or we burn TO's and make them kick the FG with a fair amount of time left instead of 12 seconds and we have a chance to try to go down and get in FG range for the win

RUN GAME: Average 2.6 ypc vs. Kentucky. 4.0 versus Ole Miss. Gotta get more yards. But overall, the QB play is not going to get us there with interceptions (Last in college football) and ranked #36 in completion percentage.

The second down QB bootleg was a weak call
I don't think that was the call. Or at least, it doesn't look like the whole offense thought that was the call. We put a WR in motion the other direction and he doesn't even attempt to chip a guy blitzing off the edge and starts running a route. We had 2 OL moving down field like it was a screen, the other 3 were 3 yards backwards after getting blown up.

That play was blown up by the defense and looked like half our team ran different plays.

Sam is the #40 qb in the league. That is not elite, but bottom half of average. That gets you 7-5. Lane missed the boat on Simmons.

Interesting. I’d love to hear the coaches asked about that.

Easy to have different opinion AFTER game but had ro punt

Dude, I was sitting in a bar with sixty strangers and everyone said the exact same thing, “why the frick are we punting? It gives Kentucky too much time.”
If we could all see what was coming, the $90M coach shoulda seen it too.

And everything else you cited is a head coach problem as well. so every excuse you’re making is on Lane Kiffin.

I think he lost a lot of the fan base Saturday night. And rightly so. He better turn it around or this will be the shortest honeymoon period anyone has ever seen.
