Yes I do think this team stinks and yes I ultimately think we go nowhere this year, but the people calling for Jay Johnson to get fired or think he's not the answer already, when he's been coaching for a month and half, is fricking ridiculous.

Outside of Berry and maybe another player or two, these are Paul's players. He hasn't done any recruiting or anything yet. They at least look better than with Paul last year so I at least think we're gonna be in the right direction. Hopefully they turn it around this year but we'll see.

I guess this is the Rant though, so I should have expected this from you all.

Everybody wants to blame the coach, but he isn't booting routine outs. He isn't not hitting the ball with RISP.
Look he isn't perfect but our players are underperforming. Our hitters aren't coming through and our fielders suck.

Honest question for you. What part of this team appears ‘better’ than they did last season when CPM was HC?

Baseball coaches are minimally impactful during the game itself. The players just need to make the plays they are capable of executing.

Just like WW wasn’t turning over his dribble, missing layups, not getting back on D, sport is sport, responsibility is responsibility. If you have a problem coaches get paid to fix it and most handsomely paid I might add. I don’t think JJ should be fired either but he IS paid through sickness and health til Woody due we part.

I have faith in Johnson right now. Only a complete fool wants to fire a coach or thinks he knows the outcome of a coaches entire career at one school two months into the season.

That said, the errors are downright puzzling. I know coaching doesn’t completely control that but there has to be some influence on it.

We are hitting just about good enough, maybe need to leave a few less runners stranded in scoring position. I’m not very concerned with the offense.

The pitching staff feels like they are pitching beyond their means so far, especially considering their confidence is probably shaken knowing they don’t have a solid defense behind them.

I think it’s optimistic to believe he’ll recruit lineups with more draft talent than this one.

The pitching staff talent can only go up.

How about their record in SEC play through 9 games after we lost our entire weekend rotation?

Remember Paul's first year when he had no talent?

Well…. For one, our conference record, We are 4-5 in SEC play this year after 3 series. Last year, after 3 series, we were 1-8. And…..last year, we had 2 proven weekend starters pitching. This year, we went into the season with none (well maybe we can say Hilliard was proven, but even he had lots of question marks coming into the season).

These MFers come here to vent and rant after their wives make them do chores.

They do it while groaning under their breath, "Watch. I'm gonna get on the Rant and let everyone know how angry I am with LSU Baseball and Jay Johnson. This is unacceptable. I bought a ticket to a game last year. I demand a BETTER product on the field. Just you wait and see. I'll show em. But First I gotta take out this trash and wash the dishes."

This weekend will be interesting. LSU was the more talented team and just beat themselves. Got a chance to go into Starkville and compete against a struggling team. It’s all about how you respond.

There's more to the story than the W-L record. Last year started vs State (NC), UTenn (CWS), and Vandy (national runner up). Maybe A&M, UF, and Auburn will surprise but seems to be two different levels of competition.

Last year was truly a young team (almost no SEC experience and see how many SEC starts our starters had before '21).

CJJ didn't inherit the team that started 1-8. He inherited the team that lost in a super regional that basically traded Marceaux and AJ for Berry, Cooper, and Collins.

We should be better than what we are.

No need to talk of firing the coach. But he ought to be criticized because he has done a really poor job of managing this team thus far.

Last years team played the SEC’s 3 CWS participants in its first 3 series. Not the same.
I do think this years team is had a better bullpen, and hits better.
I don’t think our starting pitching is as bad as people are making it out to be.
Our biggest weakness has been so big we lose games to inferior teams. We haven’t played an sec team better than us yet. But we have already lost 2 series.

Johnson may or may not be the guy. No way to know right now. Anyone that seriously suggests firing him now is an absolute moron that should be ignored going forward though. But yeah, this board is filled with reactionary morons.

What’s everyone going to say when the pitching line up adjusts and the team starts peaking later in the year. Coach will find a recipe that tastes a little better by the end of the year and the team will finish the year stronger than they have started in the SEC.

Defense has to improve and I’m betting it will.
