I hate to say it but I’m sure race was factored in here. Staley is quick to use the race card when something doesn’t go her way.

The irony here

Imagine what KM is going to do when she starts hauling in those High School All Americans? Dawn who?

On another note, let's see if KM can grab a few of those All Americans from SC through the portal.

So irony is Dawn is black and she only got the award and a white person is complaining that a white woman deserved it? That wasn’t the point. The coach that was responsible for the single handed greatest turnaround of any SEC program from year to the next, deserved the award

Of course you can. You mean to tell me you’ve never gotten pissed off , which allowed you to play harder? Hell, Michael Jordan used to make up slights against him to add motivation.

True. And...
the Virtue Signalling here.

EDIT: For Tiger88'. Your intent is clear to an open mind but it is easily twisted by those cloistered in ideology.

The irony is saying it's about race, ignoring that she does coach the #1 team in the country, and saying she's the one quick to play the race card. I thought Finley would win but it's not like it's crazy that the coach of the #1 team has an legit argument for the COY award. So many here are quick to blame race then call others racists.

SEC coaches...and they're obviously scared.

And a smart play for an SEC coach is to vote the league champ’s COTY and that way no one can get mad at you.

Preseason polls had SC #1 in the SEC and LSU 8th.

SEC Link

Tell me, who did the better job this year?

Flip the coaches, does Staley finish #2 if she were at LSU?

No doubt - Kim Mulkey deserved SEC Coach of the Year.

Politics. Mulkey is an outsider from a different conference and not part of the SEC club and pretty abrasive.

They didn't like the way LSU poached Mulkey from Baylor without giving them a chance to match.

Last season they gave SEC coach of the year to Joni Taylor for finishing 4th…. They were projected 9th but finished 4th

Clearly I don’t get how they select or what the criteria is

The coaches don’t vote on it

There is nothing "smart" about this.
Nor, contrary to the beliefs/desires of many, racism.
It's just laziness by those who don't know any better.
Its a safe, lazy vote...

Complete bull shite they gave the award to Staley. Mulkey had to coach her arse off to reach 25-4. Staley has a team full of all Americans.
