Despite leading the LSU Women's Basketball team on a historic turnaround, LSU head coach Kim Mulkey did not receive SEC Coach of the Year honors for the 2021-22 season.

LSU improved their win total from nine regular season wins a year ago to 25 this year, and they are the second place team in the conference behind South Carolina heading into the start of the SEC Tournament in Nashville.

The award went to South Carolina's Dawn Staley.

I mean they are #1 in the country and have one loss. That's pretty deserving

I think you got to look at optics here she did do that but she did it with her whole roster of 13 McDonald’s all Americans

Mulkey didn’t have the talent level she had

Mulkey's work this year equals the largest wins improvement by a first year head coach in SEC history.

It's dumb and lazy when they just give coach of the year to the best team

No reason Mulkey shouldn't have won

I’m dumbfounded by this. Really remarkable. Staley is a great coach but in no way she coach of th year this year

Dawn Staley isn’t the best coach in this conference, and she knows it. That’s why she made her whiny comments after they barely escaped LSU this year. She knows what Mulkey will do once she has time to recruit. In the future, those 13 All Americans on the South Carolina roster will be looking at LSU.

by a vote of the league’s head coaches.

Politics. Mulkey is an outsider from a different conference and not part of the SEC club and pretty abrasive.

The huge turnaround at LSU was a much better coaching job than maintaining a program at South Carolina.

Though as big of a joke as it-is and she should have gotten it is any really surprised Dawn got it? It was pretty obvious who was going to get it. The school SIDs doing this voting and its obvious they don't pay any attention.

I don't watch WBB at all, but do read many articles, but Staley's comments after the LSU game I missed that....what did Staley whine about? tia.

So transaction for football... you saying saban should have SEC coach of the year every year he's been at bama? Minus 2019 and 2021.

Said Fargas would still be here if she got the support Mulkey did. What a joke

I don't know how it all should work but shouldn't she get credit for having those 13 All Americans on the team as well? Isn't team building a part of coaching?

Like other awards it would be nice to wait until the season finishes. Burrow would have won MVP of the year in the NFL had that been the case.
