Burrow was better than Luck mentally. He was the best I’ve ever seen at the mental game

Same douche that said Lawrence was better than Joe.

Burrow was on another level mentally/instinctually. Nuss did play a smart game the other night though.

Burrow was also on year two with Jefferson and Chase while nuss has a rebuilt WR room. Definitely made it easy to hit the ground running in 2019

He definitely leaned on who he trusted in green and Anderson.

maybe but Luck is the best draft prospect for a QB maybe ever besides probably Peyton. Just hope Joe’s career doesn’t suffer the same fate.

The fact that LSU went to a much quicker release protected that offensive line too. A little over 2 seconds on average and the ball was out of there

While we’re here, I feel like a lot of people underestimate Jayden’s mental game.

I don’t think Nuss will retire early and start looking like a retarded caveman like Andrew Luck did…

I think that's aggressive, he's certainly not at Burrows level.

Nuss has an absolute howitzer of an arm, but he's going to continue to miss high due to the back pedal throws. He has to step up into the pocket, because when he does my God the throws are beautiful.

I mean that’s quite the overreaction after one game.

But arguably his best asset is his anticipation. He gets the ball out extremely fast and throws to his spot before the receiver even breaks his route and turns around. Extremely high football IQ to do that and be as efficient and accurate as he is. His pre-snap reads are excellent and he gets through his progressions extremely quick. And the trust in his receiver to be there. Everyone on the same page. It’s awesome to watch.

Well, yes, I agree with a lot of that. However, my observation from last year is that he had trouble sustaining that for entire games. For example, he completely melted down at Texas A&M. He also had bad stretches in the South Carolina and Florida. That said, we do know he can improve in games: he was mediocre for three quarters in the Ole Miss game and then put on a performance for the ages in the fourth quarter and overtime.

We saw good Nuss in the second half against Clemson. He wasn't quite there in the first half, but I will chalk that up to it being the first game and Sloan being incredibly conservative with Nuss to give the OL confidence.

I'm looking forward to him being more consistent this year.

So was JD

Mahomes?
Watson?
Lamar?
Herbert?

Isn't Bryce Young seen as an elite mental QB? I mean he was like 5-8, 160 and went 1st overall for a reason.

And this isn't being critical of Nuss. Those are all guys who have been super elite at QB in the NFL other than Young

No shite! I was looking at this thinking, "Andrew Luck doesn't even have the best mental game at QB since Andrew Luck!"

Although it was a nice compliment to Nuss, yes, there have been a few QBs since that time who have had mental games better than Nuss up until this point.

If his mental game goes to that level this year though the sky is the limit with his arm talent and LSU's talent and speed on offense.
