I want to start this off by first saying I was a huge Will Wade supporter but I’m a LSU basketball fan first. Comparing McMahons 2nd year to Wades 2nd year is like comparing apples to oranges. Wade inherited a team with players like Sampson, Reath, Mays, and Epps already established to built off of. McMahon inherited a team with 1 player late in the recruiting cycle. I victory against a top 15 team on the road in his second year is huge. They have been competitive in almost every game which is more than I expected.

Comparing McMahon to Wade period is like comparing apples and oranges. Wade is a volatile used car salesman who you bring in to flip a program on its head. McMahon is the type of coach you bring in for stability and a sustainable program build.

Look at the coaches who have won national championships, most have the demeanor of McMahon, not Wade.

There’s been a lot of close games. A few missed opportunities from being 8-4 in conference play.

Let's be honest here. Will Wade inherited a team that went 10-21 (2-16 SEC) and hosted an NIT game in his first season, and then won the SEC in his second. LSU went 22-12 (9-9 SEC) the year before McMahon took over, and then McMahon lead LSU to the same (2-16 SEC) record that got Johnny Jones fired prior to Will Wade.

I’m not here to defend McMahon but he had like maybe one player exactly left on the team from the 22-12 team so basically he started from scratch and brought in a lot of guys who prolly weren’t SEC guys but were the only ones to stick the cupboard with until players felt comfortable with all the negative stuff around the program.
With all that said year 3 is very pivotal for him and as an LSU fan I wish him luck getting guys to fit his system.
Team plays hard as hell even when they are outmatched.

The people that can’t admit Wade was a damn good coach are nuts. He leveled the playing field while at LSU. He brought in big time players including big time NBA guys.

T. Waters, J. Smart, C. Thomas, T. Watford, E. Williams, N. Reid, D. Days, T. Eason, K. Williams, etc all brought in by Wade. He took over a team with a losing record and had LSU in the NIT year 1. Year 2 they go 16-2 in conference. LSU was in the tournament every year except year 1.

Not even mentioning the fact that Wade had 2 of his postseason chances shut down by the LSU brass. Nobody mentions this when talking about the Wade situation.

He took VCU to back to back 25 win seasons and 2 straight tournament bids, and has Mcnease at 22-3, looking for a 30 win season and a tournament bid. Wade would have won a Title at LSU.

You're a fricking idiot if you think McMahon inherited anything close to what Wade had his first year. The entire team jetted when Wade left. Wade cucks are something else.

Of course, they didn't all jet prior to McMahon. He had the opportunity to keep players. He was able to keep Adam Miller, and Mwani Wilkinson.

When Wade wins the Southland conference, it will be his second outright conference championship(1 at LSU), he also has 1 tie for first (VCU). He has never won a conference tournament at any of his coaching stops and has 5 trips to the NCAA tournament in 9 seasons, he would have had 6 but for COVID. Wade has two NCAA tournament victories

McMahon won the Ohio Valley outright twice, tied 3 times, and won the tournament 3 times in 7 seasons. 3 trips to the NCAA tournament, would have possibly had a 4th except for COVID. McMahon has two NCAA tournament victories.

One recruits much bettert han the other, though.

In the next 2 years, one of these coaches will be highly sought and probably be able to command a $3.5-4.5MM / year deal. The market will tell you which coach is better. In the world of NIL and portal where you have to rebuild your roster annually, Wade is head and shoulders above McMahon.

Hope MM figures it out, but the small sample size is not real comforting.

All the McMen get furious when Will Wade is mentioned. Yet as soon as LSU wins a basketball game, they run to the board to weirdly try to shove it in Wade's face.

Do you realize who Pirate King is? He watched Orgeron burn the football program to the ground and was ready to burn with him. He has a serious hard on for crappy coaches, and finds reasons to complain about good ones.

Here is a list of coaches that Pirate King never missed an opportunity to complain about:

1 - J Johnson
2 - B. Kelly
3 - W Wade

He was a
quote:

damn good head coach

I make the distinction because I think he was a good to a very good coach and a great recruiter. And here is the thing, being a head basketball coach means you need to recruit. A very good coach who is a great recruiter will probably go further than a great coach who is a mediocre recruiter.

I am not sure if McMahon is a very good coach or not but he needs to step up the recruiting, I think. And this is coming from a guy who has been called a McMan . I've also been called a Wade supporter, though not as often.

I just want LSU to start winning again. Things are moving in the right direction, we just need to pick up a few better players or get more out of the guys we have been getting.

Love or hate McMahon, barring a scandal, he will be the LSU Head Basketball Coach next season. Wade is not going to be offered a job at LSU again. So as an LSU fan, even if you are or were a Wade fan (I was), you should hope McMahon does really well going forward.

The only caveat I can come up with is if you really believe he is the wrong guy for the job and that he will fail going forward, then maybe hope if he is gonna stink it up really bad to do it quickly so LSU can move on quickly. But even then, I for one, would hope he proved me wrong.

Probably because everyone is sick of the Wade threads. He’s not coming back, yet his unhinged supporters can’t stop bringing him up.

When will these threads cease from happening? Wade isn’t coming back, can all this be put to a rest? McMahon will either succeed or fail and suffer the consequences!
