I don’t know about conspiracy. I would assume the distribution between the men’s and women’s basketball teams is the difference you see. But I don’t have the numbers in front of me.

I still don't understand how Women's basketball loses that much money. They don't sell out all their games, but most of the time, the arena is 3/4 full.
Is it Mulkey's salary? Does the SEC give that much more to Men's Basketball compared to Women's?
Again, unless the tickets are 1 dollar each, I just don't get why they lose so much money and the Men's team with 2,000 fans make money?
The difference is TV and dedicated donations/TAF funding for men's basketball vs women's being funded by funds not specific to any sport.

You must not be a true LSU fan. You say "the record doesn't matter"?
1. It matters because the basketball program would bring in a lot more revenue if it had a competitive team (concessions, ticket sales, apparel, etc.)
2. It matters because a successful basketball program is better for the students and the fans.
3. It matters because a successful basketball program is not an embarrassment to the school like the current program is.
4. It matters because true LSU fans want LSU to be successful in ALL sports, not just football and baseball.
5. It matters because LSU can be a powerhouse in basketball with the right coach. Why should we accept such a low class program?

The expense are kims salary, travel and players salaries.
Now if we properly invested our money in MBB it would turn a even bigger profit

This is apprx what I pay per seat..
Mbb tickets …500 season
Wbb…. 275season
Gym ….90 season
volleyball … 30 season
Football… 1600 a season
This was actually discussed at recent wbb luncheon … our wbb coaching salary is in line with what other schools pay that have competitive teams….it is the tv sharing ….mbb shares with others in our conference and we get the benefit of being in a conference that draws a lot of cash …
Also why a baseball team like ours is not over the top money producer and also gymnastics.. chase that tv money .

Sick of paying coaches millions to sit on their arse. Make him at least work for it.
He's basically doing that now. And he's too young to quit; he'll get another job in a lesser conference, which will mitigate some of his buyout.

This is exactly why I finally made an account after all the years of just scrolling TD.
To downvote dumb shite like this.
Do we, as fans really want another few years of being bottom-feeder of the SEC? When we know we could do better?
I mean come on man, shite is downright depressing to even try to watch, getting demolished at home by 30 lol.
The fans, the university, the alumni, EVERYONE deserves a better product.
Nothing about LSU shouts terrible, except MBB.

quote:oh yeah? Name em. McMahon is not a good technical coach. He’s not a good coach at anything. Seriously what does he do well?
We've had several good technical basketball coaches that didn't succeed here because of the fickleness of LSU MBB fans, or the lack of their existence.

Let McMahon go at his contract expiration.
lulz...
This is a horrible take.

I remember you sucking off Johnny Jones constantly when he was atrocious

Retard comment. Something is awful, but still profiting, so don't try to make it better so you can profit even more from it while strengthening the brand.
The football program produced a record profit last year with a shitty team. Should we have let BK's contract expire?

The revenue report that came out last month shows the MBB team in the black despite how crappy it is.
Are we going to pretend like a winning or even just a competitive MBB program would not turn even more of a profit???

Sure if we just pretend the world doesn’t work like it actually does.
Nevermind that it isn’t your money used for the buyout.

You would have kept Brian Kelly for another 6 years with your stupid arse logic!!
People like the OP would still have Curley Hallman on the sideline if left to their own devices.

I don’t care about “we ain’t losing money”… I care about making the tournament and believing we can make a run and so should everyone in the athletic building
