It's not that serious. No need to put the war paint on.

Just complimenting Reed.

With Jalen Reed they probably win at least 4 - 5 more games and possibly a couple of upsets

Proof I’m not exaggerating that people say that with Reed this was a tournament team.

Completely unreasonable expectation.

I think they dont actually understand adding another player doesnt mean you just add in the avg ppg and magically make up the difference.

I also don’t think they understand that when they say we win 4-5 more games means based on when his injury occurred that means we win 4-5 more SEC games.

1 player 4-5 SEC games.

They are saying the difference between being about an 8 seed in the tournament (essentially the average of the 8 win SEC teams) and turning down a bid from the NIT is jalen Reed.

So, at this point do we pretty much know everyone who’s coming back, or are there any more that are on the fence?

Because at this point do, I’m ready to see activity in the portal. Then we’ll have a better idea of what the plan really is.

If he goes after small to midsize school players (or can only get those), that’s a big red flag for MBB next season

You can doubt all you want. Returning to competitive basketball in 11-12 months post-surgery is about as good as you will see. That is assuming no significant complications in the recovery and rehab process. If Reed had surgery in mid-December, that puts his return around December 1 in an almost best-case scenario. Maybe he gets a month of games in before conference play.

To expect him to immediately play at the same level as he was pre-injury is unrealistic.

Glad Jalen is returning!

Is there any insight into his recovery thus far?

ETA: I mean actual insight and not the generic speculation above.

Where else was he realistically going to go coming off that injury?

I don't think anybody thought he was leaving. Honestly, it feels like a calculated announcement by the program to try to manufacture excitement after defections earlier in the week. That's not the worst thing since at no point during McMahon's tenure have they ever tried marketing the program.

Off subject here, been following the portal close, I’d drop one of them mo eye bags on the Big man from San Diego state, a lot of upside and 7 foot. So far the big name guard like Elliot Cadue, eadle staff and the PG from New Mexico State are all on the top of of big top contenders like UNC and Bama.Did this NIL money check come in yet or we waiting on Fed Ex?

He’ll be more than fine by October. Will he have to shake off some rust? Sure. But these days 6-9 months is a good recovery time plus a few weeks of conditioning work.

Reed isn’t athletic at all so his recovery should be fine by the time the season starts. The more explosive athletes can still take up to 18 months to get back to 100% but Reed is a D level athlete so he should be fine.

The basketball IQ on this site is comical.

The only thing comical is folks actually knighting for a coach that’s 14-40 in SEC play. That’s looney as it gets.
