re: LSU Basketball, something I’ve noticed
Posted by Primeminister337 on 11/21/25 at 10:31 pm to GeorgeWest
So I’ve watched Texas tech a few times this year. And right now I’m currently watching watching Purdue blow the doors off of them. That being said, I really believe we have a chance to beat those guys, they are not your usual Texas tech team, so it appears. Even if we don’t win, I fully expect us to be able to play with them and be in the game the whole time. We are all kinda expecting them to win, but if they play the way they played tonight we can upset them.

Well they do a few things well, is it gonna be enough? I dunno, time will tell. We get to the free throw strike really well, which is huge when you have bad shooting nights like tonight. They have played way better the second half after two meh first halves this week.
What worries me is without our pg in the game we look lost. We are still letting teams kill is on the offensive glass. Now, grant it, we improved in the second half, but when we are gonna play a team neither a pulse and we have bad first half’s like that, they are not gonna let us back up regardless how well we play the second half. I also think we are gonna have to find a way to get Reed or Williams in the starting lineup and tamba off the bench, it’s not showing up yet but we are gonna need the size in sec play.i like tamba a lot but something tells me we gonna have to play bigger sooner or later. But the biggest thing so far is, we gotta bring the same intensity to both halfs. Good win, glad we pulled away, keep trying to improve game by game and let’s hope for the best.

Your 100 percent right, our Achilles heel is when Thomas has to go to the bench, there is no flow to our offense, Dedon’s best quality is he controls the pace of the game and gets us into the offense early, Reese may be good for us one day, but right now he’s simply not ready. We gonna have to be patient thou cause this is something not learned over night.

To me this is what coaches call a lack of comcentration and focus, simply making silly mistakes like giving up almost 10 offensive rebounds and not boxing out. I’d hope Coach chews some arse out at halftime. The effort of defense and the boards is unacceptable. I can live with a bad shooting night, but not a bad effort night.

I wouldn’t worry about Florida, they get better and better as the season goes on and last year peaked at the right time. They gonna be fine

As a bama opponent in the SEC, they are by far the scariest team to play. They can jump on ya so quick, earlier in the game they got 3 long range shots in about a minute, so in a blink of the eye they were up 2 again on Purdue.

Ya the size of Purdue is definitley an advantage, and they are good at getting the mismatch near the rim. Plus they shoot the ball at a high level. But the scrappy bama defense and high shooting volume of bama is also elite, these two teams may see each other again come March. Fun to watch

If you’re a fan of CBB, this is some top level ball being played and I’m loving it. Two contenders going blow for blow, as an LSU fan I’m jealous, but loving the way these guys compete

After your first loss, how he speaks, who he throws under the buss, and what the plan is moving forward
It’s kinda a two part thing to me. After the loss. What adjustments and changes were made to correct the problem as well. Does he adjust?

Anyone know why we have never seen Gilhool play? I’m gonna assume cause we have an abundance of depth at PF? He’s a really good player and it would suck to loose him to the portal, really hope he stays. I watched him in high school when they were on TV and he impressed me.

Agreed, and anyone whose ever played basketball knows when your not shooting great, get to the foul line.
MBB assessment

Still too early to assume anything but here are my thoughts.
Protected the ball, only 7 turnovers, maybe the most impressive thing about tonight. Got to the free throw line a ton, this is what good teams do. McKinnon had a rough one others picked up the slack, it’s gonna happen some games so not too big of a deal. Also, it really important that we stepped on the throats of these clowns and blew them out, treated this game as a buisness trip and took out the trash.
Great game tonight, yeah it’s early, our best test in about to come up, keep improving, !and let’s enjoy the win
Oh I’m not gonna go thru each individual cause everyone was pretty solid. But I will not that I really like when Reed went strong and over his defender in the paint rather than under and finesse.
Basketball fans and have been asking coach to show us things are gonna be different, and rightfully so,tonight was a step in that direction.

I’m fairly happy with the game. I stated in the early thread any team who’s serious about making the tourney should win by 15+. Gotta great games like this as a buisness trip and step on their throats, this was a very positive step for us.

Reed hook over the defender! Thx u! When he goes over defenders rather than under them he’s a much better player

Ya hear what your saying ATL, but my point is, if we really are gonna be a tourney team, 15+ victory should be the standard. You know I’m really a believer in McMahon but I’m I love Tiger basketball and I just want to win and don’t care who the coach is that turns it around for us. I’m just saying 15+ cause any serious team should expect that also
And that’s what I’m getting at and your 100 percent right, “ if ya want skeptics to believe diffrent, do something different”, I’m begging this team to make me a believer

I’m 100percent expecting us to coast in this game and win by 15+. If we are really serious about making the tourney this year our expectations against this low tier team should be anything less than a 15+ point win is not acceptable.. we have superior players, go out and handle buisness.
Also, after the game our discussion should be about these things:
1. Turnover
2. Opponents offensive rebound
3. Transition defense
4. Minute rotation
5. Pick and roll defense
The things that have trended each season and have been McMahon Achilles heel.Hipefully we see some signs in improvement in those areas.

Is Zion even worth a 1st round pick anymore?

What concerns me is 7-10 days is equal to 65-70 pints of Ben and Jerry’s on a Zion diet…
