Max is no great loss...

He had a lot of games to show what he's got, and he didn't impress me much.
Max's deficiencies:
-long wind-up/slow release
-zero pocket awareness
-average arm strength
-not elusive/poor runner
-inconsistent accuracy

Him holding the ball for 6 seconds made me want to pull my hair out. It never got better all season. Zero internal timer.

half the board didn't want him as a starter the other half did. I personally think Nuss is the starter next year and walker takes over after that

He actually regressed this year which don't make sense, I could see maybe blaming poots but his father was an NFL Superbowl winning QB. You think he would get some coaching from him.

Sad he didn't have the balls to finish the season & the bowl! Loser!!!

Max’s QBR for the season was 62.7, which was 61st in the nation.
Kid has no business being the starting QB at LSU.
Wish him well.

Max transferring out does not bother me because turn over is inevitable when there is a coaching change, but I think Max is a lot better than he showed this year. Our O line was garbage and the play calling did him no favors. I suspect Max goes somewhere else and develops well.

Okay genius! I’m sure you have it all figured out and have foreseen the future and know we will be okay.

Take a look at his options a lot of times he had no one credibly open.even his rb outlets were going to get blown up. Not saying he was perfect and without blame but his holding the ball too long had as much to do with his receivers.

Yep, forgot about his broken timer. You'd think he would start mentally counting once the ball is snapped as that is what they are taught. When you get to 3.5 or 4 you better be throwing the ball (either to a receiver/rb or away)...

If no one is open throw the ball away or run if you can,it's not that complicated your supposed to avoid taking sack at all costs if possible.

Our offense did not help him out much at all. Very few check downs and options to get the ball out quick. There were plenty of times where he made mistakes, but he was a true freshman and sophomore. In our very ehhhhhhhhhh offense he was able to produce
313/523 (59.8%), 3,884 yards, 35TD, 8int.... in 12 games.
I'm not saying he wasn't to blame for some of the problems, but the OLine sucked. Peetz was not helping him with check downs or 6/7 man protection. Hell even Hester said he caught 30-something passes one season and our closest guy was in the 20s. We just lost someone who has serious experience. Is it the end of the world no is not. We have one on campus who is talent just needs work, and a 5 star who will here in a month. Just stepping back and looking at it for what it is. He played tough for us and kept getting up when it was clear our OC wasn't ready for this role. I wish him all the luck in the world.

He wasn’t a good QB
And the losers in here that defended him now look like the idiots that they are

When you lose your starting QB, it is a loss, no matter how much lipstick you want to put on this pig.
He was the most effective QB on our staff, so he started.
Maybe one day Nuss will perform as effectively, maybe not.
Now we have a new roster problem to solve, and one that is important to the team's success next year.
This is not an inconsequential loss, no matter how many flaws Max has in his passing game. He was the best we had.

With the defense can apply pressure without sending extra players on 3rd and long, it leaves everyone else to drop back. Kick in the fact that the run game left a lot to be desired. Max definitely has some glaring faults, but the system didn't help him.
Nuss was no better when he played. And I can't believe he's as bad as he looked against Arky either. He's pretty good.
I'll wait to be critical of the man once we know the real reason why he left. Maybe Kelly advised him to go? Maybe his dad got involved? Only a few people really know why.

I think the easiest explanation as to why Max is transferring is his little brother doesn't want to come to LSU anymore and they want to play together.

Tell me you don't know football without directly saying it. We didn't have a RB to catch the ball because it wasn't schemed that way. Our lead RB only had 8 catches ALL SEASON. We were often in 6 or 7 man protection with no outlets or quick passes. I can't believe I'm defending Max Johnson like this. He's not a great QB but a lot of the things he gets bashed for weren't his fault.

Best thing thats happened since him and Finley signed is them both transferring!!
