Strike zone was screwed up for both sides. The ump had a different zone for every inning. There was no consistency

I not an expert but

It seem like Hilliard should have at least started the next inning.

And the ump made it very difficult for our hitters

Do you swing at an outside ball or take when it should be a called ball?

How about our 3B not make that stupid decision and it’s still 2-2 going into the ninth. Pitching or PM decision to make the switch didn’t lose the game ultimately the dumb decision by the 3B cost us the game. Players win and lose games. We didn’t get the timely hit and we made a mental midget decision. The human factor still exists in sports & life.

And what happens when he gets an extra inning from Hilliard, and Coleman comes up in the 7th? Is Coleman Sandy Koufax all of a sudden?

Hilliard could have gone another inning and a half and then turned it over to Fontenot. But all I know is Hilliard wasn’t done so there was absolutely NO REASON to pull him !!!

Not sure. Doughty’s gaffe was also huge. But our batters and the never-ending K’s was pretty much the story. We should be able to score at least 4 runs.

Unless Hilliard went to him and said he was done, absolutely

Nah. Hilliard didn’t have many pitches left. We were going to have to go to Coleman.

This wasn’t a crazy decision. Last week a Mainieri made crazy decisions (Hellmers).

Coleman pitched fine.

Double and three walks, correct?

Can’t imagine he doesn’t regret it now. Pitching Coleman makes sense, but Hilliard has another inning

What about the hitting coach? Does he owe any apologies?

It wasn't the pitching change that lost this game. Hilliard wasn't going to pitch a complete game. It was the 20 strikeouts.

Yea Hilliard prolly had more in the tank but these clowns on here can’t comprehend that the bone headed play at 3rd was the play that was the difference in the game

I thought he prob should’ve started the inning

But in Paul’s defense. He was getting hit hard, just at people. He’s coming off of weird rest schedule from last weekend, and pitched through a rain delay today. What he did was not that out of the ordinary.

He was at 76 pitches. He was nearing the end of the rope. If I recall the 3rd time around for him has been bad, historically.

If/when the top of the lineup touches Hilliard for another run the threads would be bitching that we left him in a 1-run game with their potent offense getting a 3rd.

The call didn’t work out. It wasn’t nearly as bad as y’all are acting.

Hilliard just struck out the batter to end the inning and was pumped coming to the dugout

This is why I question pulling Hilliard. He seemed like he was ready to go. It was a weird move but I’m not sure it was one of Maineri’s most egregious errors with pitching.
