I'm not sure about that. You already have several teams, and an entire conference, talking about banning their teams from playing TTU in the future if he plays. This could very well get ugly for TTU

Can’t wait to see how TV contracts weigh in when it comes to booting TT. I have a feeling that the networks will not allow a boycott of the new most hated team in CFB.
Exactly, the conference will NOT boot TT.
The conference MAY get together and rule that sorsby cant play, but I'm sure that would end in a lot of lawsuits flying around.

Surprised how many judges are college football fans - also how much bias it creates in them. Then I remember I check the rant regular and say yeah, I can see it. Still think it’s a crock

I could care less about sorsby , but from here on out NOBODY should ever be ruled ineligible to play ever again for anything done wrong if that’s the case .

I mean where does it end? Couldn’t get drafted so you just keep playing until the team tells you to leave? Have a guy say I’ll cut you in if you throw the game and there’s no recourse? I mean the moral compass is so far off the chart with this it’s eliminating the point of competition and fair play

It's a real thing with judges and college football. Some law professors did a study about 20 years ago and learned that 19th JDC judges handed down 20% harsher prison sentences on weeks after LSU football lost. I mean I get it I'm as rabid and LSU fan as anyone and sometimes as people we have our unconscious biases.

It will be exactly the same as the ncaa. He will get a preliminary injunction against the Big 12 enforcing its rules, with a trial date in February 2027 so the conference will either have to violate a court order (risky jail for the commissioner) or looking as toothless as the ncaa. This is law fare at its finest.

Agreed…I can’t stand cheaters. That’s just another form of thievery to me.

Its not just about Sorsby. If players can start betting on their own teams & not receive any punishment for the illegal actions then why would any player follow any of the NCAA Rules or Bylaws?

And this is why you hedge and sign multiple QBs in the portal like Kiffin did.
I don’t think there would be a huge panic with Longstreet and Clark waiting in the wings, assuming they still sign here with Sorsby as QB1.
I know it a different time, but LSU has had no problems kicking star players off the team in the past (Perrilloux/Honey Badger), so we’d maybe not make a mockery of the sport like Tech is doing.

It's worse in Texas. But TT and Sorsby have a problem. Tech is way way down the totem pole in terms of political clout.
Baylor is the most powerful school in Texas when it comes to political clout. SMU is second. Texas and Texas A&M kind of tie for a distant third. Tech is down there with TCU, Houston, and the field in the "we don't give a shite about you."
In other words, the chances of this surviving appeal are very slim.

quote:Just the opposite. This was part of Kiffin's long term transition plan to take the heat off him as we head into geaux time. Hell, he probably kicked in some for his NIL.
Could you even imagine. What a shitshow disaster that would have been with all the other Kiffin drama and everything else. Unreal.

That’s my point
That’s where it’s at now
Posted on 6/9/26 at 1:46 pm to jlbasm
All you need now is a crooked judge for the home team to allow ineligible players to play like Chambliss & Sorsby
Posted on 6/9/26 at 1:48 pm to T1gerNate
If a Texas judge ruled like this, could you imagine what a La corrupt Judge would have ruled. No suspension and paid his bookie.

This sounds like a bold claim if there's no data to back it up, but please explain this to me. I genuinely thought the power structure was always Texas, A&M, and then everyone else...

Dude the appeal is already scheduled for
February after it matters

I guess Sorsby didn't pay attention to Pete Rose being excluded from the Baseball HOF for one reason and one reason only- gambling!!

Let's go ahead and use simple language for "the sanctity of the sport", because I've read some people on these forums arguing in favor of letting him play...
If you gamble on the sport, the game you are playing, you have motivation and opportunity to make money by throwing the game.
These factors do NOT apply to any other "ineligible" player; a violent thug who beats people or a druggie, or a guy with fake or questionable academic records (we don't even care about that anymore), or even someone with a history of playing semi-pro ball. Their motivations are still to perform well and win for the team they play for.
People pay a lot of money to go to games, and spend a lot of time following these sports, with the understanding that they are actual competitions. Both sides trying to win, no matter how outclassed one side may be. I'm not interested in "the story" or watching a "performance", where the outcome is predetermined. If I think the game is rigged, I will not attend or follow it. I outgrew pro wrestling a long time ago, I have no desire to see real sports become the same thing. Most fans feel the same. This is the type of thing that can absolutely kill a sport, and must be prevented at any cost.
