Mike Miley would have been on top 10 list if he would not have lost his life at such a young age. Jones was the best even though the stats were off b/c of run first mentality. Hodson was a slinger and he could pass the football w the best of them. Herb Tyler was awesome runner and leader w passing skills. Ensminger threw the best post route ever - especially to Carlos Carson! Props to everyone who played QB at LSU!

Russell was not as good as people want to remember him. Made bad decisions, threw a lot of picks. His draft stock rose at the combine, not because of his LSU career.

Top 3 QB's no one has posted on:

1. Doc Fenton played end his first season at LSU, and much of the first 2 games of 1908 season.

2. Abe Mickal maybe the best qb in the nation his so year, after being injured 3 times finished up as a team B (backup, in those days it was team A, B, C and sometimes D) player his last 2 seasons.

3. Nelson Stokley best qb to come to LSU since Y.A. Tittle until Bert Jones, but like Abe injuries sidelined him.

Now the one that should have been:

1. Young Bussey
As a high school player he was nation wide news and whoever got him was getting a great one. This is the player of the decade of high school football of the 1930's and was sports headlines nation wide.
The problem was he had a temper, and drank, lead his high school team on a strike and wanted to do the same at LSU. He was a career backup at LSU.
Was drafted by the Chicago Bears and even in limited duty at LSU still had a better arm than the qb's on the Bears team.
Killed in action Jan. 7th 1945 at the Battle of Lingayen Gulf while serving in the US Navy.

Do you watch? It is evident when a leader at QB is the true leader on the team. It is not something you have to imagine. If you think DE was a strong leader, great. It just means you ignore everything that everyone else could see.

DE was just fine. I'm really glad that he was there to save us from Brandon Harris or worse. But there's no way he's even invited to the all time great LSU QB discussion in my opinion.

Flynn completed under 50% of his throws in each loss.
It's all conjecture, but a 60% passer (DE) could have given 4 or 5 more completions in each game and likely affected the outcome of OT games.

You can think DE was better than Flynn, that's fine. I don't. I don't think Flynn was an all-timer either, but he makes the lists of greats for leading the way to the title. Pure QB skills competition doesn't matter as much. Stats are misleading, they don't indicate victory or performance under pressure. Leading teams to victory matters a bit more, to me.

How can you have Jamarcus that high when he couldn’t even beat out Marcus Randall?

Here’s your original post.

quote:

JaMarcus redshirted his first year, then split time with Randall, a senior, but played in 11 games. Ask Nick Saban if you have further questions. You seem ignorant.

There’s my response.

Says Jamarcus didn’t beat out Randall.

>Says you’re ignorant for not realizing Jamarcus did beat out Randall.

Then you hit me with that.

You lost me, man.

I have no clue what you’re trying to prove.
If you really have to ask why JaMarcus is high on any QB list you have issues.
Worrying about beating out Randall his first year you obviously don’t understand he was trying to learn the playbook. Saban chose to work him in while he was young and behind a Senior QB. He played in 11 games with Randall while he developed. What he did after Randall was nothing short but incredible.

Wickersham leading with the most career yards sort of hit me out of left field.

Will anybody at come close to Rohan's, bowl game included, LSU single season record of 3791 passing yards in in the next 10 years? LSU as a team combined for 4022 yards that year (off official record).

I really don't think Etling was that bad at LSU. Our OLine was horrendous and the offense was pretty predictable, and he was injured most of his 2016 season.

Yeah, he isn't the best QB but he wasn't terrible.
