I think JaMarcus is higher on the list, but he had his moments that made us lose our shite.

Easy to forget just how amazing JaMarcus' arm was. This video quality is awful but best I could find quick casually tosses it ~60 yards

Lets’ see and I will be downvoted left and right.
National championships won.
1. Flynn
1A. Mauck
Everybody else.

Honestly, Bert was great. I will be down voted again and Hudson was a very good college quarterback but to be at the top is laughable and pretty sad.

Jones was booed when he was put into a game because he was platooned with Paul Lyons.

Paul Lyons was 6-1 as the starter in 1971 and had set a LSU record for total yardage in a game vs Wisconsin, every time Bert was put in the fans booed.

And my and dad and I saw the same thing, Jones had the far better arm, it is not until the Notre dame win did the fans stop booing him.

The next season Jones starts.

A lot of us students booed Coach MAC which was like booong a saint. We felt like the best was sitting there and our shitty offensive style killed us. Lyons could move better, but the rush was only the issue when our line wasn’t very good and we still tried to run up the freaking middle - sounds familiar? Coach MAC and Les had a LOT in common.

Don’t know who “Hudson” is and you must mean Hodson.
Hodson was far better than both of these game managers. You must be 12. And being laughed at is something you better get used to if you’re saying either of these 2 are remotely close to Jones.
Hell Herb Tyler was a better QB than the Matt’s.
Hodson was far better in and outside of the pocket than those 2 FWIW.

You obviously are just. Kid. Hodson did that with ARCHER AS THE HEAD COACH for 3 years. He WAS the offense that last season.

Stats are like a bra and panties. They reveal a lot. They hide some possible imperfections, but they don't tell the whole story. If you had one season/game to win everything, who do you want behind center?

I liken to me, a braves fan. Despite the Glavine and Maddux accolades, if I've got one game, I'm taking smoltz.

Russell is the best QB to play for LSU. If that's the criteria it's him

I wouldn't put him in the top 10 for that 1 season.

I agree, that’s why I said in a later post I didn’t mean anything by the stats, just posted for fun.
I’m a Cubs fan, but I was at the WS in ‘95 to see the Braves finally capture the title. We flew back and forth from ATL to Cleveland.
Only had WGN and TBS to watch baseball as a kid, so the Braves were up there for me.
I was disappointed the Mariners didn’t beat Cleveland. I was a huge Griffey fan, and that team was loaded.
A CSB, I went to every WS game early and watched BP. I was wearing an LSU sweatshirt and Albert Belle came up to me in the first row and talked for a few minutes, signed a ball and took a pic with my grandfather and I.
It’s more cool, because he was perceived as an a-hole so all of the media followed him over to us. It was was wild, I was 14 or so.

How can you have Jamarcus that high when he couldn’t even beat out Marcus Randall?

Kick arse. Yeah, bro, wasn't bashing your post. Just giving my 2 cents. Your post is actually a great debate that will bring a lot of opinion and ferver. I'll always be a Hodson guy based on my age. Rohan behind him. Rohan is my "go to war/foxhole" guy. Jamarcus had a fabulous single season but did so much dumbass stuff early on to drop him a level. Then again, there are guys that didn't light up sportscenter but were tough as nails, solid winners. Guys like mauck, Flynn, Tyler.

Dude what are you talking about?

JaMarcus redshirted his first year, then split time with Randall, a senior, but played in 11 games.
Ask Nick Saban if you have further questions. You seem ignorant.

Dude I agree with that entire post.

Honestly my favorites are Hodson, because of my age, Mauck Tyler and Rohan. Rohan was dirty, bro. A lot of people forget about how athletic Tyler was too. He wasn’t the greatest, but I think that UF in ‘97 will always keep Herb in my favorites.

They split time, but Jamarcus came off the bench and won the Oregon St. Game, jamarcus had his first career start at Florida struggled a bit for hurt and then Marcus came off the bench and won the game. Jamarcus brought us back on a huge 4th quarter come back in the bowl game against Iowa and then had 2 good seasons after that. Jamarcus had the best season of any LSU QB in program history in 2006. He was easily a top 2 QB.

Danny’s numbers aren’t bad at all for 2 yrs. if he had 3 yrs he would be around 6500 yds, 40 tds , 13 ints....

I think Herb Tyler was actually one of our most important QBs because he had to step in as a true freshman in 95 when Howard got injured and we went 4-0 with him as the starter, stomped a ranked Arkansas team to earn our first bowl bid since the 80s and then destroyed Saban in the Indy Bowl. He played really well for a true freshman who was basically an unknown who had zero snaps until that point.

LSU coaches did a good job of changing the offense and calling plays that used his good running skills. I think LSU was 23-5 with him as a starter going into his senior year and if not for Tepper with the worst D ever in 1998, Tyler would have finished with very few losses as a starter.
