I'm glad at least one person agrees with me about Jimbo. I breathed a sigh of relief when he left. I never thought much of him as our O.C.

We’ve played them 56 times...more than a lot of SEC schools. It’s more of a rivalry than Arkansas. It has a lot of potential.

Arkansas rivalry was forced

aTm is a more natural rivalry on many levels and the Arkansas rivalry was fabricated when they joined the SEC in 1992. Now they are fabricating Arkansas/Missouri as a rivalry. Who the hell else is going to fill that roll for Missouri?

Even playing Arkansas every year since joining the SEC LSU has only played 7 more games with them than aTm.

The big in-state rivalries make sense...Ole Miss/State, Bama/Auburn,Georgia/Georgia Tech Florida/FSU, USCe/Clemson, Kentucky/Louisville and Tenn/Vandy.

Arky is a newer “rivalry” than aTm and someone has to play Mizzu. When Tulane de-emphasized Football that sets up two “border wars” (Texas/Louisiana; Arkansas/Missouri).

Makes sense to me.

This WILL become a rivalry. The old schoolers will back me up on this.

It will only be a real rivalry if A&M can ever become a big time football program. They never have been their entire history. If they stay like they have been it will be just like the Arkansas rivalry.

FALSE

it was never lopsided in the 80’s. In fact, we won 4 of 5 in the 80’s. It went south in the 90’s with ALL of LSU football thanks to Archer and some other nameless bum.

Eventually A&M and Texas will renew their rivalry and play each other as the last game of the season. It is inevitable.

I say we start a rivalry with Hawaii because that would be a nice trip over thanksgiving weekend.

Back in the day, LSU played either Arky or aTm on Thanksgiving. I’m talking about back in the golden ages, 1970 and earlier.

Playing either one of these teams Thanksgiving weekend has some roots

LSU has had two rivals - Ole Miss which fizzled in the mid 70s and Tulane til we stopped playing them. LSU has only become Alabama's rival in the last decade. The record is clear that in the past 50 years, Alabama has dominated us and embarrassingly so, so let's stop with talk of that "rivalry". We're probably # 3 on their list.

As for ATM, Texas will always be their biggest rival, and I think many Aggies would say LSU is now #2. There are A LOT of Louisianians in Texas, and A LOT of them have sent kids to their highly-ranked institution. And just because we have had their number since they joined the SEC, it was not always this way.

It is not a manufactured rivalry. It's a natural one that happens to have history. Once they beat us a few times, things will ramp up a bit. Yes, leave it the Saturday after Thanksgiving.

Wrong. LSU won three of four in the ‘80s and tacked on another win in ‘90. A&M won five in a row from ‘91-95.

Very untrue being Alabama takes there week off before our game every year must mean something bigger to the best coach that ever lived.

LSU's chances of beating Texas A&M is 50-50. Because Les Miles stopped recruiting the quality lineman who was on a par with the rest of the top college football teams in America.

Now Head Coach Ed Orgeron must go a long way back to becoming competitive for the SEC championship again one day, but not just now.

It’s a legit rivalry, and I enjoy it.

I don’t know where the idea came from that it has to be competitive/back and forth/50-50 for it to be called a rivalry. When Navy beat Army so many years in a row, were they not rivals? When’s the last time Michigan beat OSU? Can we not call that one a rivalry anymore?

The “rivalry resistance” of some of our fans is kinda dumb, if you ask me.

I’m not a fan of them even being in the SEC. Further enables thier little bro insecurities and gives them way more than the league gets out of them being in it. They’re into UT. Stay with UT. Now you don’t even play them?

And that place is just so corny It’s hard to even watch. Stay in Texas with Texas.

There's a lot of history there.

Up until '92 that was a big rivalry game (lopsided the other way).

Then Kramer gave us the Piggies.

Then Slive gave us the Aggies back.

Plus, back then when some of the best LA talent was going elsewhere such as FSU, Bama, UF, Miami, etc. that rivalry game in TX kept us above water, so to speak, in recruiting. The oilfield (Houston mainly) and that game kept our footprint in TX.

This matchup is more of a rivalry for TAMU. Their dry streak against us mirrors ours against Nick. Also the Aggies are like an abused divorcée that no longer has her daddy (Texas, the old SWC and Big 12) to spend holiday time with.

Eventually aTm will win a few and a rivalry might develop. No guarantees, despite the ugliest trophy that requires a forklift to move (the boot) Arky never really took off.

The Aggies main problem is their recruiting base. Texas is a huge and talented state, but it is sliced into thin sections by all the in state and out of state schools including LSU.

While I think Jimbo would have done well back at LSU, I don’t see long large scale success in Aggieland. He made his name as the big fish in the small ACC pond. The ACC has grown, he has had a lackluster recruiting result, and escaped the dumpster fire he left at FSU. Five years from now TAMU will throw huge money at their next savior, and will say Jimbo was an improvement over Sumlin.

You’re obviously too young to know better. The two fan bases hated each other long before A&M was in the league.
