One of things that make Jay a great coach in this era of baseball is that he's a relentless recruiter. Is Jay not deserving of the same revenue share as other SEC schools? Should he have to recruit with one hand tied behind his back? Give the man the same revenue share as other top programs. He's not asking for more than them. He just wants to compete on equal footing.

I don’t know why we’re focusing on only revenue sharing.

Jay’s point is only about rev share. He’s not taking issue with NIL.

Jay could take another job if another school will offer him more support and resources. It’s a money race”

He’s won two NC’s in his short time at LSU . He’s well compensated . LSU boasts the highest attendance in the nation in baseball. Why would he leave? He won’t .

Does MBB bring in that much more than baseball right now?
the PMAC could be empty all season and men’s basketball would still break even because of tv contracts.

Jay is as happy as he can be at LSU. This is coming from a friend of the family that is very close to Jay and his wife. Jay gets all of the support he needs. He would like LSU to commit to a little more rev share money but that’s it. Over 500K in NIL was raised at the first pitch banquet back in January. There isn’t another school that is close to doing that sort of fundraising.

For a new challenge? Tony V went to MLB, you think they haven’t called Jay?

Part of why we are who we are is so that we don’t necessarily have to be the highest bidder every time, just as long as we’re in the ballpark. Yes money is important but dudes aren’t going to obviously lesser programs just for a small amount more

The fact that any women’s sport would receive more money then baseball is frickkg outrageous, never knew being good at women’s basketball would be so obnoxious and detrimental. Tell mullet to retire and don’t give it another dime

LSU isnt letting him walk over money. LSU also is the only NCAA school using all of Uplift labs motion capture systems. This is a real advantage in using tech to better the player’s development.

“It’s a really hard topic,” Johnson told Tiger Rag in an extensive interview recently. “What I’m going to say is, school’s are going to decide what sports they want to excel in.” Asked if they have already been doing that, Johnson laughed and said, “Tough question. But all I’m going to say is schools are going to have to decide what sports they want to be really good in. And there are some schools that are all in on baseball. And we need to be one of those schools. We’re not there yet.”

This is just lobbying for more dough.

Why would LSU go more “all in” on baseball? Will there somehow be double or triple national titles or something?

And why would he say that he wouldn’t leave to coach the Yankees if LSU wasn’t “all in?”

And what does “all in” even mean?

College baseball viewership is only going to increase and become more mainstream over the next 10-15 years,

People have been saying this forever, just dont see it happening.

Idk it's getting bigger and the MLB keeps hurting itself. The draft changes since covid changed the talent level in CBB and now were seeing way more pros come from the college ranks. If we get another MLB lockout it'll only help CBB more.

I'm hopeful that the energy brought to football this year will actually have a good ROI and allow us to contribute to baseball more in the future. We are definitely falling behind there.

MBB needs to get the money from WBB, but MBB makes money regardless just from riding the coattails of the SEC.

This last offseason is when it started to hit I think. We spent a lot more money on last year's football and basketball transfer hauls and there just wasn't as much available for baseball. And we saw it play out: we didn't bring in the same tier of transfers that we have in years past. Now we increased the spending on football even more, which I'm okay with and the ROI may help subsidize the other sports, but WBB is a problem.

Jay got specific about the LSU job.

Jay did not just say “I’m happy here.” Jay said “I wouldn’t leave LSU to manage the New York Yankees.”

2. A&M will come for him after they fire Earley this year. They may not have the history but they will promise more money than LSU is giving him.

He's not leaving for A&M, aggy has trouble getting donors for baseball, it's widely known, go read their boards. They are having issues with lead donors for their stadium upgrade (only holds 6k). They are going to go after Vaughn, because Jay aint going there. I'll take any bet you want on that.

I’m speculating. Based on his comments, I think Jay just wants the athletic department to be as committed to baseball as he is.

Read the whole interview and that’s what I can take away.

Correct. He was not happy at all with Woodward when they announced the revenue share (which he found out about while were in Omaha).
