He literally is referring to rev share. He says we are not there yet

No.. where did you get that from?
Your concern in the OP is that another school will hire Jay away because we're not all in.

Mississippi State is but at every sport historically except baseball
They are spending their money on baseball. Look at the field look at their roster.
And historically in the rearview of many other schools in the conference especially LSU. Maybe they're fricking up.

In the context of what they’re meaning (revenue sharing dollars), plenty of schools are committing more than LSU is.

1. He has made comments about not getting enough of rev share
2. A&M will come for him after they fire Earley this year. They may not have the history but they will promise more money than LSU is giving him.

Jay could take another job if another school will offer him more support and resources. It’s a money race
Posted on 2/26/26 at 7:43 pm to Mbeloso
So what’s the solution? If we don’t outspend every single program, then we aren’t doing enough?

I understand football getting the lion share of the budget, but i don't understand the reasoning for thr rest of the breakdown. Does MBB bring in that much more than baseball right now?
quote:
At LSU, as advised by the SEC office, football is to be receiving 75 percent, men’s basketball 15 percent, women’s basketball five percent and all the other sports get a concoction of the remaining five percent.

The solution is to cut MBB’s rev and Women’s BB’s rev by small percentages and let other programs who are already elite stay elite.
Gymnastics and Baseball.

LSU could go even more all in and that could still happen.

Yes. We're leaving more money on the table by neglecting the basketball program already.

I’m speculating. Based on his comments, I think Jay just wants the athletic department to be as committed to baseball as he is.
Read the whole interview and that’s what I can take away.

He's not leaving the premier program in baseball. Its what brought him here

Also revenue sharing and NIL are completely separate things. Revenue sharing is capped at $20.5 million. NIL has no cap and LSU has plenty of private baseball only donors due to LSU baseball history since the 1980s.

LSU can split the money up however they like. They chose to give more to Women’s basketball than Baseball.

Exactly. I don’t know why we’re focusing on only revenue sharing.

quote:LSU does get to choose, however the suggested hierarchy, which I would imagine most universities are using at least initially, is majority football (75%) then MBB, then WBB, then the remaining split between all other sports. LSU may modify in the future, but they’re not using some bizarre distribution model.

LSU is the second most “all in” school in baseball in the USA. Give credit to Ms State, a school half our size in a poor state half our size. That is the only school even in the conversation about “all in.” Is JJ up for contract renewal? Is this a negotiation? As a regular attendee, TAF member and coach’s committee supporter, I don’t like where this is going. The place was 80% full for Kent St and Milwaukee. JJ needs to consider all these players are coming because of the NIL he has gotten, not because they just love JJ.
