Former LSU All American and head coach Jerry Stovall has died. He was 85.
A great man. Kind and generous. He will be missed.

He should have won the Heisman his last year. I believe it was a QB from either of the Oregon universities. Stovall was playing both ways as well as returning punts. He was robbed by the West Coast voters.

what a shame. My years at LSU were 'The Stovall Years.' Great team in 1982 but a much greater man. A true ambassador for LSU.

Quality individual who loved the Tigers and answered the call to help his Alma Mater in its time of need after the tragedy of Bo Rein's death.

He was the LSU coach in my freshman year. Got the job when Bo Rein was lost in a plane crash.

Played both ways at LSU, All American, played with St. Louis Cardinals, Head coach at LSU, Athletic Director at Louisiana Tech.

The year Jerry missed the Heisman Trophy there was another great QB at Georgia Tech named Billy Lothridghe I believe. IN addition to losing the West Coast vote Billy Lothridge split the Southeast vote and that too was a major factor in his coming in 2nd. I'll always believe that he indeed was the true winner and the award was "stolen" form him.
