Wiggins was just a freak athlete with a body built for football, dude was not a football player though.
Sampson wasn’t a huge surprise to me either. You could tell he was too soft for LSU.

How did Trey Quinn not “pan out?”
Brandon Harris was the QB and Les Miles/Cam Cameron were steering a sinking ship. He still started every game his soph year. I think he saw the writing on the wall.
Seems like he panned out to me.

I feel like most of the time there's a pretty good reason they don't pan out. Usually off the field/attitude issues or their game doesn't translate from small high schools to the SEC.
Sometimes you'll get really raw prospects that don't develop or are lazy and don't put in the work to reach their potential.

In neither of those seasons did he catch a pass. In fact he dropped a touchdown pass in one of the games. I'd say he killed his own dreams.

People so often write off that type of run-heavy O completely. But 2023-24 Michigan showed a system like that could keep working with good utilization of TEs.
McCarthy didn't even pass for 3000 in 15 games, but he was highly efficient. And Michigan utilized the TEs well. Colston Loveland and AJ Barner were two of the top pass catchers that season. And now are good NFL TEs.
It makes so much sense to incorporate TEs with a system like that.

Ryan Perriloux had some big moments in 2007 then got dismissed from the team . This forced Jarret Lee into the starting lineup before he was ready. Assuming Ryan continued to develop LSU contends for the national championship in 2008 and 2009 and perhaps the Nick Saban dynasty never gets off the ground.
