As a player, just ended.
As a NFL Coach, just started.
January 16, 2026, the Washington Commanders hired Etling as their assistant quarterbacks coach, on head coach Dan Quinn's staff.

The most mind boggling thing about this is that he could actually move. He was the 4x100 anchor for his high school track team. Was always so strange to me that he couldn't get on the field.

Because the recruiting services more often than not over rate these players and they are not what they say they are. Unreal expectations are put on them. They do get some right but a lot wrong.

Anthony Johnson definitely wasn't a bust. He underperformed expectations, but wasn't that bad.

Might be the single most infuriating player to ever watch. Dude has the worst running form and was ALWAYS a step late.

Armoni Goodwin and John Emery both had big moments in 2022 especially. When they transferred to smaller schools I thought they would have killed it but they fell off the face of the earth completely.

Russell Shepard -- According to 247 Sports, he was the second highest ranked player in LSU history behind Leonard Fournette but never really panned out as a BW or WR.

Charles Deas did this years ago and several others. Unfortunately not that uncommon since recruits started to put announcements on video

This is a tweener w.r.t "never panned out." Pre-injury, he was certainly panning out. He explained that football was his life and after he got injured he just didn't adjust mentally to not being able to play. Glad to see him rebound in the NFL.

Others have mentioned Trey Quinn. Trey was advised by Miles/Crowton to take his skills elsewhere since they wanted to use taller WRs in their scheme (Anderson, Sullivan, et al). Hence, he left for SMU.

Kardel Thomas, Deangelo Benton, Jeramie Roscoe, Marcel brooks, da Shawn Womack, Tyron Johnson, Clifton Garrett, Quincy wiggins..

If I had to pick the top guys that I just didn’t get it probably favorite, Benton, Garrett, Womack and maybe throw one of the QBs Harris or Howard.

Can’t believe that nobody has mentioned Chris Davenport. Dude was “All-World” 5-star prospect. Never started.

With all due respect to him, he did get his degree from LSU.
