Makes sense. Playing this game does nothing to help your playoff chances.

Currently have a Utah home and home right after that. I wonder if that's on the chopping block too.

Based on what the CFP has done so far I get it. Schedule two cupcakes, including the opener, and make your power opponent as manageable as you can. Houston and SMU make sense for us. Easy travel and weak opposing fan bases.

You play @Utah they're going to pack it out like it's their super bowl and they're a good team. I love watching those games, but the committee has shown they don't reward it. They just count wins.

Among the countless things Sankey has botched, his nine game SEC slate has been added to the pile.

Pretty sure home and homes with Arizona St have been on LSU schedule every 5 years since about 2000. We played them once.

The 9 game screw up should cost him his job.

His admitting the CFP told him he screwed up was wild.

It would have been a fun trip, but the CFP has told you these games are meaningless.

Wonder if LSU was hoping Tulane would be in ACC or B12 by then. They currently don’t have any other P4 opponents on schedule.

Swap Rice for Utah simply for recruiting purposes.

Unfortunately, I agree. As a fan I would MUCH rather watch LSU play ASU than McNeese or Southeastern. But beating a team like ASU, more often than not, doesn't help you as much as a loss hurts you. Look at Texas last season. If they play Miami (OH) instead of Ohio State they are almost assuredly in the CFP. But that loss to OSU put a team (Oklahoma) they thoroughly beat in the CFP ahead of them simply because they lost one less game.

A 9 game SEC schedule is already tough. Why increase the risk of a non-conf. loss when there is little benefit to a win?

Other than missing a chance to play some golf out there, I’m okay with this. ASU as an opponent leave a lot to be desired.

The Utah home and away matchup is more enticing imo. Would be a fun, unique trip to a beautiful part of the country. Really hope it doesn’t get axed as well

when they scheduled SMU that decision was made

LSU doesn't need to travel all the way to Utah or Tempe to play a game anymore

I like playing someone like SMU or Houston where LSU fans can make a relatively easy road trip
