LSU defense elite or is Clemson offense just that bad?

I'm going with our defense being ELITE. So much speed and talent on that side of the ball, should be an exciting watch for the rest of season.

Both. But LSU has a weakness innthe interior DL and bigger, older, stronger lines will exploit it.

We looked very fast. We will learn alot about thie defence against Ole Miss. A QB that can run and an up tempo offense. Lane will have the guys ready, but we should learn alot more next week

I’ll go with both. Clemson’s OL looked LSU’s last year. The defense is damn good though.

I think it's probably both, doesn't take anything away from a week 1 performance though IMO.

Both can be true.
I would add that if Clemson played any other team that the SEC played except for maybe Louisville, they would have been favored and they would have won.
I think them against Louisville would have been a coin flip and decided by the bounce of a ball one way or the other.

I think weak is the wrong word. I think inexperienced is a better word but I thought they did well eating up blocks allowing LBs to shoot gaps and make plays.

Last year we were in a dogfight with Clemson and both of our teams won 7 games. This year we actually dominated and did what we supposed to do.

I think the real test will be Aggy at home vs a qb that gave us nightmares the last two years.
Ole Miss is kinda in the raiders position when gruden suffocated them in the Super Bowl. Lane basically built the team they still have and he knows Trinidad and all of his good and bad habits.
The Clemson game was a little of both. The core things we saw like communication, speed, physicality will all play vs everyone. It’s also true Clemson decided to hire a washed up guy that hadn’t called plays since Covid and hasn’t called a good offense since 2014ish.

The defense is pretty damned good. Very athletic with well-coached schemes…

Green and Dom McKinnley actually played pretty well. Geralds had a rough day outside a few reps but has some pretty elite pass rushing moves for 3rd down packages. Richard Anderson played better after a rough few plays. But I was actually a lot happier with the reps when I rewatched it. McKinnley needs to be better at wrapping up but the push he and Green generated doesn't happen by accident.

This! I what replays and look at the DL specifically. They consumes two to three OLmen and allowed LBs and Edge to create havoc. It was not glamorous, but effective.

Their offense is bad and slow.
LSUs defense has good players. The ultimate test comes against teams that can attack you across the whole field.
Mobile QBs, speed at the skill spots, physical OL. Texas A&M will be the first real test.

This is what I did also. They did what they were supposed to. Also, their technique and gap discipline are miles above where they were last year.
I think people should go back and watch film from last year and see how many runs made it to the second level without being touched or running through arm tackles.

We will find out in two weeks at OM, how elite they are against a good offense, QB and RB.
