Gooden at that size will only be able to play passing downs.

Wut

Gooden was an elite run defender at his previous stop, hes not even here because of pass rush

Gooden is racking up TFLs in practices on RUN plays

Logically it is hard to bet on that given there is no precedent for someone his size succeeding at DT in the SEC. You are free to do so. It makes more sense that he will be played situationally

Lester, respectfully. Listen to the Blake Baker presser, he spoke directly about Gooden and stopping the run. Spoke about quick twitch and having leverage on the lineman before his second foot hits the ground.

I heard it. I think everyone is hopefully optimistic.

Comparable size to Breaux; ideal for 3 technique DT

Mekhi Wingo was listed at 6'0" 280lbs. He was pretty damn good here considering he had to play 90% of the total snaps

I am sadly thinking it’s the latter.

I'm hopeful but doubting Thomas until I see differently.

Off-season hype selling tickets.

A lot of good pieces on paper but we have all been through it... "past seasons."

This line is amazing only to find out their average and the other line is garbage.

This group fin2eat yeah not so much.

We're going to find out 8-30-25

We will see tons of run blitzes and will give up more than the occasional long run.

Could be a very fun defense to watch.

Wingo was 6’0” 284 at the combine.

284 is a 6th percentile weight for a DT.

268 is a 0 percentile weight for a DT.

My only thing with Gooden is that they've got him listed at 6'1" 268 lbs. I would like to know if that's accurate or not. That seems like nothing for a SEC DT.

Well good news is that because we have a DL that can wreck shop hopefully that means the next not quite 3 weeks our IOL can figure something out instead of finding out then.

It actually got mentioned on College Gameday today. That fat blonde said the defense is supposed to be much better. Holly Rowe I think her name

That 268 finished 2nd amongst 140 starting DTs in G5 in interior pressures last year and has been the MVP of fall camp so far.

It means he’s explosive and has a high motor at that weight.
"High Motor" is not the right expression for him.

Reserve that for Pyburn or one of the Weeks brothers.

I don't recall a season other than 2023 that we have though it. And that Defense ended up 105th. Our defense will be Top 30 next year.
