LSU Basketball: time to start really worrying?

Ok so what happens with LSU basketball?
Spent the last several days in the Bahamas and there happened to be a summer league tournament at our resort and we were able to attend a game. Texas A&M, Arkansas and South Carolina teams were the SEC teams competing against a few other international teams.
They were getting actual minutes together on the court, building cohesion and familiarity and running plays; and we don’t even have a starting 5.

I don’t ever really put much thought into basketball until after football season is over, but I’ll say my expectations for this season aren’t very high. It doesn’t help that one of our biggest recruits for next year basically came out this weekend and said that the staff isn’t paying much attention to him because they are still trying figure out how they are going to fill a roster for this year.
That’s just my opinion as an extremely casual LSU basketball fan.

Not a lot of reason for concern. This will be an extremely old team. So they don’t need months together. Most on the international guys move around from year to year, so they are used to it. Also Wade’s offense is predominantly ball screen actions, so again that doesn’t take a lot to develop

Yeah but they need to be enrolled in school still right? The semester starts in two weeks. I thought we were good, but we're running out of time here and the only news we've gotten lately is ineligibility news.

Nah...this is totally normal. All those schools you saw with full rosters playing and practicing together right now are anomalies.

I’m pretty sure that you will have 12 registered shortly

Roster is full, think the general is slow playing this thing til school starts. May be some court cases to rule on eligibility soon

All I know is Moscona asked the booster he had on recently after the governors mansion meeting about it. And he said WW is fine.

But how many of them will be eligible?

Nah, relax. Wade gets 1 year to rebuild. We watched trash from McMahon for 4 years. Chill out and give him a pass for this season.

It was time to start worrying when Wade was rehired! Will not be long before the next investigation begins.

quote:Yes buddy, please start W0RRYING. The team needs us to worry now more than ever. This group is following one of the most prestigious programs with the last several years living up to amazing expectation, and the bar is set really high. This year's team has a TON on pressure on them to follow up where the program is currently at. Please, by God, Worry as much as you possibly can, the program needs it.
time to start really worrying

We are on an upward trajectory, no matter what. Look what Will Wade pulled out of his arse his first year.

People keep saying this, but it simply isn't true. The NIL era data clearly shows that teams that return more minutes from the previous season will, on average, outperform rosters with similar rankings that return fewer minutes from the previous season.
Take a roster ranking like Relative Team Ranking from Evan Miiya, and then pick a roster ranking band like #1-rated through #10-rated. Then you can somewhat accurately predict the final season ranking order based on returning minutes played. This works for any band, 50-70th best roster, etc. There are always exceptions, but on average this rule holds pretty true in the NIL era.
Obviously, Wade had no say in this for this upcoming season and is doing what has to be done to build a roster. It is, however, a distinct disadvantage for this upcoming season. It would be good to at least be out touring with the team playing exhibition games, like other top teams. That said, it looks like the LSU roster will be good enough to get into the NCAA, especially if Wade can upgrade the guard position with a couple of 5th-year guys.
