We showed him! Way better now with no expectations, hope, or fun.

Sad that these are the athletic department talking points. It really tells you everything you need to know about the direction of the program over the next few years.

Will Wade was fired because of Will Wade. He was a really good coach but he was an idiot when it came to recruiting violations.

First rule of recruiting is the head coach is never the one that talks on the phone/texts/emails about anything that can possibly be misconstrued as a recruiting violation. The assistants do that so the head coach can play dumb.

Wade wasn’t cheating anymore or less than any other major basketball coach out there. What I do believe is that he was the scapegoat to save the football program.

This right here is far and away my biggest concern, but I could also see the argument of what's lingering over the program right now. I'm trying my damnest not to judge McMahon so early, but the results are worrisome.

if LSU mens basketball was ranked top 5 in the country and was crushing teams every week, the pmac would be rocking for them too.

It’s results that MM won’t match.

situation is much different. wade didn't inherit a team with NCAA sanctions looming over it scaring off top talent.

wade inherited some talent and coached them up with his process. there was excitement and an understanding that LSU basketball was a sleeping giant waiting to be unleashed.

then wade got caught doing something other coaches do. he was just not covert about it.

You say that, but with minimal time to do so, McMahon signed three 4 star (top 120) players. The fact that LSU was able to get any of those guys to sign was frankly, a bit remarkable, and one of the first things McMahon deserved credit for. What's disturbing is NONE of those guys have had any impact this season whatsoever.

Moving forward, LSU was very much in on a top-10 national recruit, AJ Johnson, before he ultimately signed with Texas. That shows me top prospects are at least willing to listen to the pitch. But, in this day and age HS recruiting is probably not as important as it once was. You have to get impact players from the transfer portal.

You can expect there to be some degree of turnover from this roster following this season because that is simply the nature of the sport now and not limited to LSU. The key will be can McMahon and his staff get some impact guys there.

Wade inherited a team that won 2 sec games and no portal to rebuild.

Sanctions aren’t that big of deal with every game on tv and nil. A good coach adapts and sells to get kids in.

MM is showing no pulse recruiting and his system sucks a bag of cocks it’s a horrendous boring O. Nate Oats is a bitch but he at least has an exciting idea and system.

Y’all can downvote this if you would like and I don’t expect everyone to agree, but LSU basketball is dead.

1. Matt McMahon seems like a great guy and I absolutely wish him the best. Anyone who is wearing those prestigious three letters deserves our support to start. However, he has done absolutely nothing to generate any buzz around basketball. Wade was so good at marketing the program in the community and with the students. People were excited about LSU basketball and it was beginning to slightly overshadow baseball for a little while towards the latter part of PM’s coaching career.

2. The team has absolutely zero offensive identity. I can’t name one thing that they do well offensively. As an SEC program we should at least be able to identify one offensive strength and I honestly can not name a single one.

3. The PMAC atmosphere has reverted back to the Johnny Jones era. I was at the game tonight from the tip off until the final buzzer. The in arena music is awful and brings zero energy into the building. Also, the loudest moment before the short run to begin the second half was when they showed Kim Mulkey on the video board. I understand it’s a 6:00 game on a weeknight and BR traffic is a bitch. However, the fans who were in attendance were given absolutely nothing to cheer for and the place was silent. This is disheartening considering what that place was like last season and pre-covid under Wade.

Like I said, I will support my Tigers through it all but the program died when Wade was unjustly axed. People can say whatever they want about Will Wade but nobody was more passionate than him when it came to wanting to put LSU basketball on the map. We were building up to be a force and it was taken away due to soft administrative decisions in the face of adversity. Hoping one day we can get this thing back to where it was but we are in for some dark days before we see the light again. Geaux Tigers!

I’ll be honest at this rate I would’ve taken the tournament ban for a year on the chin if it meant we kept Wade. It’s not like we will make it this year anyways so was it really worth it? At least we knew we had a proven commodity who had us in the top 5 of the SEC year in and year out.

At this point we were better off keeping Dupre as our coach and hoping he might be able to recruit.

Enjoyed the ww era but fact is he brought us here… willing to give the macmanincs era time to evolve…

Got wbb season tickets last year … and yeah the place is rocking with the energy of the team… staff … and fans

Looking forward to when mbb has been healed …

kids want to be on TV during the tournament. if there is no tournament (sanctions) in LSU's future, you aren't going to attract top talent. it's just not going to happen.

the NCAA hammer has to fall sooner than later or it's going to be an even longer process to get LSU bball back to where it was.
