LSU Basketball is Dead
Posted by WeComin504

Y’all can downvote this if you would like and I don’t expect everyone to agree, but LSU basketball is dead.
1. Matt McMahon seems like a great guy and I absolutely wish him the best. Anyone who is wearing those prestigious three letters deserves our support to start. However, he has done absolutely nothing to generate any buzz around basketball. Wade was so good at marketing the program in the community and with the students. People were excited about LSU basketball and it was beginning to slightly overshadow baseball for a little while towards the latter part of PM’s coaching career.
2. The team has absolutely zero offensive identity. I can’t name one thing that they do well offensively. As an SEC program we should at least be able to identify one offensive strength and I honestly can not name a single one.
3. The PMAC atmosphere has reverted back to the Johnny Jones era. I was at the game tonight from the tip off until the final buzzer. The in arena music is awful and brings zero energy into the building. Also, the loudest moment before the short run to begin the second half was when they showed Kim Mulkey on the video board. I understand it’s a 6:00 game on a weeknight and BR traffic is a bitch. However, the fans who were in attendance were given absolutely nothing to cheer for and the place was silent. This is disheartening considering what that place was like last season and pre-covid under Wade.
Like I said, I will support my Tigers through it all but the program died when Wade was unjustly axed. People can say whatever they want about Will Wade but nobody was more passionate than him when it came to wanting to put LSU basketball on the map. We were building up to be a force and it was taken away due to soft administrative decisions in the face of adversity. Hoping one day we can get this thing back to where it was but we are in for some dark days before we see the light again. Geaux Tigers!

I’ll be honest at this rate I would’ve taken the tournament ban for a year on the chin if it meant we kept Wade. It’s not like we will make it this year anyways so was it really worth it? At least we knew we had a proven commodity who had us in the top 5 of the SEC year in and year out.

Admin/Alumni don’t care. Basketball is the redheaded stepchild of LSU Athletics. Woodward and company will be content with mediocrity because the program won’t attract negative attention anymore. I will miss LSU Basketball being fun and having a nothing to lose attitude. LSU Basketball has plenty of potential, just look at its history and compare it to other thriving programs at football schools like Alabama, Tennessee and Auburn. Just sad LSU Basketball will never maximize its potential.

I believe it! Like Wade did, Kim Mulkey has done a phenomenal job selling the program in the community. She has also recruited well and put a product that is worth watching on the floor. LSU fans will support any sport with a good product and this has been proven time and time again. The women's basketball program has earned the right to a packed arena.

Get a life, Will Wade was Cheating His arse off and got caught, if you don't want to watch LSU don't buy a ticket, but all the Will Wade love is misguided, he wasn't that good

After year finished in contention for a sec title each year. Went to the tourny every single time after year 1.
I’ll wait for you to name the last time LSU made 3 straight tournies and managed to get a win in 2/3 tournys.
Hint it hasn’t happened a lot lately.
You can be mad at will for sucking at covering up cheating but you are retarded if you don’t think those results are good for LSU bball.
It’s results that MM won’t match.

You should direct all your anger at Wade for getting caught.

No, we should direct it at those in the administration that fired him instead of letting the NCAA process play out.

Yea what the hell happened to the Men's program? I saw coach Kim at the game last night, she looked disgusted, board and embarrassed all at the same time.
Did they strike out on McMahon or the players he brought in? Either way it looks like they're stuck in reverse with peddle to the floor.
